KEVIN BARKER, 53, passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 29, 2022. Born in Logans -port, he was the son of Chuck (Sherry) Barker and Tonia "Toni" Williams, who survive. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post 330, Navy Club Ship 245, and Team RWB. He retired from Norfolk Southern after 29 years of service and was a union official for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys, IU basketball, Notre Dame football, Dale Earnhardt, and was a member of both Whispering Creek Golf Club and Orchard Ridge Country Club. He also enjoyed gardening, grilling, gambling, and his cigars and beer. Kevin had a deep love for his family, friends, and the Railroad Union. He had a commitment to the BLET that was unmatched and was committed to doing his best for those he loved, always. More than just a passionate union official, Kevin was a loving father and husband, nurturing grandfather, dedicated son and brother, and loyal friend. He is also survived by his wife of 30 years, Shelley; children, Marvin Alexander of New York, Jacquiline Cromartie of Green Valley, Ariz., and Gavin (Courtney) Barker of Patagonia, Ariz.; siblings, Kris (Laura) Folsom of Yuma, Ariz., Cory (Rachelle) Barker of Peoria, Ill., Leila (Matt) Brooke of Frankfort; grandchildren, Alonzo and Jayde Katurah Cromartie; and baby Barker on the way, expected in September. Funeral service is 3 p.m. Thursday at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven, followed by military honors. Viewing and visitation start at 10 a.m. the day of service. Please come dressed as you would to normally hang out with Kevin, as this is what he would want. Celebration of life to follow at Whispering Creek Golf Course.
