Kevin Brenneman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 20, 2024.
Green - Surrounded by loved ones, Kevin Brenneman left this world on August 17th, 2024 after a nearly 30 year battle with multiple sclerosis. This disease may have taken a toll on his body, but it never killed his spirit and eternal optimism. Kevin was a warrior with the heart of a lion and kept his positive outlook and sense of humor until the very end.

The fifth of seven children, Kevin was raised in Green, Ohio by his loving parents, Neva (Rossiter) and Carl. They grew up close in a little house on Graybill Rd. There was never a lot of money to spare, but what they lacked in monetary wealth, was more than made up for in love. Kevin was the most athletic of the bunch and this athleticism led him to an extensive baseball career that ended when the Pittsburgh Pirates said no. Too slow. Kevin attended Kent State University and obtained his degree in Education. He joined Goodyear Tire and quickly climbed the ranks in the racing division. He even invented a machine to help crews unload tires from trucks earning him a patent. He was also very proud of his Masters in Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University.

Of course, his proudest accomplishments were his 3 children whom he loved with all of his heart: Adam(Emily), Alex(April), and Neva. He also found joy in his role as Papa to Alex and April's 2 children, Mae and Atlas. Family was everything to Kevin, and his will miss him immensely.

Kevin's legacy on his community will not be forgotten and he made sure of that, through his incredible generosity. As a result, many of the buildings and structures in Green display the Brenneman name. Kevin had a heart of gold and knew no strangers. He spent his time after his diagnosis volunteering with the Shriners Hospital, reading to children at the public library and as the unofficial greeter at the YMCA. He was also a loyal member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church where he coached the softball team. It was because of Kevin and his love of the game that this program continued for many years. His kindness leaves us all in awe at how someone with such an awful disease never complained or lamented his situation. He still put others first. Even in death, Kevin is still helping others as he has donated his body to NeoMed in hopes that research can be done to cure MS.

A celebration of life will be held by the family on January 25th, 2025 at Guy's Party Center (500 E Waterloo Rd, Akron 44319), from 11:00am-3:00pm. The family would like to thank the caregivers at First Light, especially Kia and Curtis, for their dedication and friendship. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Oak Clinic for multiple sclerosis. https://oakclinic.com/donate.php

Dear Kevin and Family,

It was an honor to be able to be the first caregiver for Kevin when I was part of FirstLight. He was an amazing man full of life, joy, and stories. I felt like part of the family, and he was part of our family. The love and joy his siblings, brothers, family, etc. showed was a beautiful example of love!

He will be missed greatly!

God Bless, and know my prayers continue for him and his family!

Dear Kevin,
Thankyou for our friendship.
Thankyou for encouraging us to move to Green 40 years ago.
Thankyou for introducing me to some of the most unique people I have ever met. By the way, please say hello to Kim, Fred and Mike Shipe.
Thankyou for getting me a BLIMP Ride.

I will always remember the Tribe Home Openers, and the softball Tournaments. I will never forget the tournament in Dayton when we were robbed while we were sleeping, and the hotel manager who tried to evict us.

I'm sorry for all the times I ran you into the fence, but to be fair after a couple of times you should not have trusted me.

Most of all thank you for being a great role model, who never complained but always looked for the joy in life. I will always remember your infectious Laugh.

I take great joy in knowing that you are probably playing baseball and finding something to laugh about!

You will be missed! BUCKEYE

Kevin and I were on a city bus in London, having won a trip through Goodyear. Always the bashful one (right) he grabbed the drivers microphone and started to sing Our Last Kiss to the delight of all passengers. He was a true delight . Rest in peace my friend

I will forever cherish fond memories of my years playing softball with Kevin, his family and friends from Goodyear and the Greensburg United Methodist Church. I remember him proposing the following toast over 40 years ago. "May you count your days with smiles, not tears, and measure your life in friends, not years." Rest in Peace my dear friend.
