Kevin Carlson Sr. Obituary
He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 24, 1946, to Gerald and Rose Carlson and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. During his 4.5 years of services to the CORPS; he was awarded 6 medals including American Forces Expeditionary and National Defense Services medals.
After his honorable discharge he went to work for Control Data and The Specialty Manufacturing Company.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Nancy Carlson; his siblings Rita (Tom) Magnuson and Mark (Cindy) Carlson; his children Laurie (Joe) Howell, Kevin (Laura) Carlson and Jim (Kim Meisinger) Carlson; sisters-in-law Elaine Carlson, Diane (Bob) Reitz and Cindy (Casey) Rowles and brother-in-law Steve Glatte. He is also survived by 13 grandkids, 13 great-grandkids and numerous 'favorite' nieces and nephews.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law Shirley and Dale Schirmer, stepfather-in-law Ed Sturm, daughter Janie Carlson, brother Jerry Carlson and sister Corrine White (Carlson), bother-in-law Bob White, sister-in-law Sherry Glatte and grandson Adam Skjeveland.
A military service will be held at Fort Snelling, Minneapolis MN at 9:45 am on Tuesday July 23rd followed by a Celebration of Kevin's Life at the Rosemount Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
In lieu of flowers or personal contributions, the family respectfully request any donations be made to the Rosemount VFW in memory of Kevin J. SEMPER FI...Our thoughts are with the Carlson family and friends during this difficult time. I only met Mr. Carlson a few times, but he certainly left an impression on me.

Knew each other for 65 years. We were born on the same day/ same year. We were more like twins than friends. I feel lost without him.

So sorry to hear of Kevin´s passing. Linda and I met Kevin and Nancy at Sunlife Resort, Mesa AZ. We shared many "Happy Hours" and stories of life experiences. A hero and veteran of the Vietnam war he carried the scars of his service but was still able to maintain a sense of humour. Rest easy Kevin, as a Canadian I thank you for your service and dedication.
