Kevin Benson Haslam
March 25, 1953 - January 22, 2018
Kevin Benson Haslam passed away Jan. 22, 2018, in North Logan, Utah, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma. He was born March 25, 1953, in Boise, Idaho, to loving parents Raymond and Jackee Haslam. He enjoyed a happy childhood with his brothers and sister on Maple Drive. Kevin graduated from Logan High and continued his education at Utah State University, receiving a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering in 1978.
Kevin married his high school sweetheart, Kristie Nielsen, in the Logan LDS Temple on April 5, 1974. Together they raised four children in South Jordan, Utah, and Eagle, Idaho. They loved spending time together on many lakes with Kevin as captain of the Haslam boat. They returned to North Logan in 2003.
Kevin worked as an environmental safety engineer at National Semi-Conductor, Zilog, Dairy Farmers of America and Presto Products and was planning to retire this year. He was a member of the LDS Church.
Kevin's lifelong passion was music. He was an encyclopedia of classic rock knowledge, collecting thousands of albums and attending concerts at every opportunity. He was an accomplished musician, playing bass guitar in bands to pay for college and most recently for fun with the local band "8 Track Mind." Attending concerts and jamming with friends and family was his "therapy."
Kevin greatly enjoyed and embraced the role of grandpa. He formed special connections with his 13 grandkids and found ways to relate to them individually. He could often be found throwing a football, teaching an instrument or supporting his family in all their many activities. His grandchildren will miss the attention and love he freely shared.
Kevin will be deeply missed by his family and leaves behind siblings Craig (Sue) Haslam of Ogden, Mark (Lisa) Haslam of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Shelli (Dean) Hunger of Kaysville, Utah; his four children, Emily (Jeff) Hamula of Charlotte, NC, Diane (CJ) Smith of Clearfield, UT, Daniel (Emilee) Haslam of Las Vegas, NV, and Heather Haslam of San Diego, CA; and his 13 beloved grandchildren, Carson, Andrew, Lexi, Evan, Macy, Roman, Monet, Oliver, Zoee, Dominic, Ruby, Tate and Nikayla. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at 12:30 p.m. in the North Logan 3rd Ward LDS Church, 1850 N. 400 East, North Logan, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held prior to the service at the same location from 10 a.m. to noon. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.

We lived next door to Kevin on Maple Drive. Kevin was in high school and my brother and I were about 5 or 6. We loved when Kevin would come over and teach us basketball and spend time with us. He was our favorite! I always thought he was the best person.
