Kevin Monteith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 4, 2017.
Kevin Lee Monteith went home to be with the Lord in Cornerstone Hospice on Wednesday May 03, 2017 in Winter Park, Florida after a 4 month long battle with lung cancer at the age of 65.

Kevin is survived by his wife Michele Monteith of Kissimmee, Florida; daughter and son-in-law Sarah and Michael Near of Kissimmee, Florida, daughter and son-in-law Heather and M. Aaron Whitman of Saint Cloud, Florida; Grandchildren Joseph Robert and Rebecca Ann Near; Mother, Arlene Monteith of Presque Isle, Maine; sisters, brothers and their spouses Blanch Hobbs of Massachusetts, Gloria and Victor Winslow of Maine, Sylvia Tarr and Bob Knapp of Massachusetts, Pamela and Mark Kamen of Maine, George and Brenda Monteith of Maine, Patti and George Batton of West Virginia and Derek and Sherri Monteith of Maine; as well as 28 nieces and nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by Father, Lynwood Monteith of Caribou, Maine; Brother, Lynwood Monteith, Jr. of Presque Isle, Maine; nephew Darren Tarr of Massachusetts and Grammy and Grampy Ketch of Colby Siding, Maine.

Kevin was born on September 12, 1951 in Caribou, Maine to Lynwood and Arlene Monteith. He graduated from Auburn Vocational College in 1978 with a degree in Printing. He married Michele Hutton; they fell in love and he asked her to marry him on May 03,1979 and were married two months later on July 12, 1979. They lived in Woodland, Maine and he began working at the Maine Bag Company before going into business for himself as a Painter. In 1980, their first child, Sarah, was born and less than 2 years later, Heather arrived. Kevin was known for teaching them about the importance of the Lord Jesus. Kevin and Michele loved to fly fish and taught this to their children. His love of the outdoors with fishing and camping at Square Lake are some of the greatest memories with the family.

Kevin was an accomplished painter even upon moving to Florida where his skill was awarded the highest painting honor given, the Sherwin Williams painter of the year. He was always known for joking around, and making others laugh, usually at him. He was very passionate about teaching his grandchildren to learn their bible verses and giving both of them a love for painting. He spent his last 3 years on this earth taking care of Joseph and Rebecca everyday. Kevin Lee Monteith will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure to know and love him.

A Celebration of Kevin's life is scheduled for 11:00am on May 20, 2017 at Eastern Avenue Baptist Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kevin's amazing life.

In lieu of flowers, the Monteith Family invites you to make a donation in Kevin's name to the Nylander Museum in Caribou, Maine -- Kevin's Great Grandfather's museum.

Kevin is a tribute to his mother and father from his love of the Lord to his painting/artistic talents and his great sense of humor. May his family be comforted in his loss and proud of his life and love of God. Cousin Gary Lynwood Monteith.

Kevin, my cousin was a credit to himself and many others. While I have not seen Kevin but a few times in many years it feels like more often. Kevin watched over my father William (Bill) to most, and brother to Kevin's Father during the 70's for which I'm so grateful. God Bless you cousin and thank you.
