Kevin O’Hare Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 24 to Mar. 25, 2021.
Kevin Joseph O'Hare passed away unexpectedly on March 22, 2021, at age 69.  He was a devoted husband to Pat, loving father to Christine Balen (Steven), and beloved Peepop to Austin, Savannah and Cameron Balen.  He was also survived by many loving cousins and his best friend, Buddy Kunsevich.  Kevin loved spending his free time fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren ranging from Christmas time, spring break trips to Busch Gardens, and extended summer visits that included many activities, including fishing, Phillies games, and even a trip to Maine to go lobstering. Even though he had a bachelor's degree in business from Rutgers University, he preferred working with his hands, from building cranes to working as an electrician.  Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday, March 27th, from 11 AM to 12 noon at St. Bartholomew's Church (5600 Jackson St, Philadelphia, PA 19124) at the intersection of Harbison and Cheltenham Aves. (Please park around the back of the church in the parking lot and use the ramp entrance off of the lot to enter the church). His funeral mass will begin at 12 noon and his interment will be held privately.  Kevin was given a second chance at life by being blessed as an organ recipient. In lieu of flowers, your donations to Gift of Life at www.donors1.org would be appreciated by his family. Arrangements by McCafferty Sweeney Slabinski Barnes Funerals and Cremations of Torresdale Avenue 215-333-0500, John Barnes Supervisor. My deepest condolences to Kevin's family and friends on the loss of a very special man. Kevin was a lifelong friend of my husband and fellow fisherman. He always greeted everyone with a big smile and made each person feel that he was so happy to see them. Earth has lost a genuinely kind soul and heaven has truly gained an angel. RIP Kevin. You will always be remembered.

Aunt Carol & Uncle Don's memories of Kevin

Everyone was glad to see Kevin at Family Events. He had the Irish Gift of shooting the

Blarney with a smile and laugh. I'm not sure but I think he said he climbed Mt. Everest in

1975 (Blarney). Pat, Family and Friends remember the smiles and good times, his smile

was contagious. So true the song "When Irish Eye's are Smiling". We will remember and

miss you Kevin.

Our deepest condolences and prayers for Pat and the family. Kevin will be missed by all who knew him here in Florida as this was also home for him for a portion of his life. He was really good at keeping us posted on happenings with the family. He was such a great guy!!!
