Kevin PATTERSON Obituary
October 5, 1985 – November 27, 2015
It is with broken hearts that we announce the tragic death of our dear son Kevin at the age of 30. He will be greatly missed and forever loved by his parents, Roy and Jane Patterson (nee Kingsbury) and his beloved brother, Ryan (Tara Etherington). Kevin is deeply loved and missed by his paternal grandparents, Marilyn and Walter Patterson and was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Rita and Clayton Kingsbury. Also mourning his loss are his Aunts, Uncles and Cousins: Dan Patterson, (Mara Torcaso) Ryland and Jana, Anne Kingsbury, David Kingsbury, (Sophie Thibodeau), Sebastien and Sabrina, Nancy Gallagher (Jim) Devin and Connor, Debbie Carpenter (Ian), Peter Kingsbury (Camilla Pino) Montana and Camdin, and Mike Kingsbury. Kevin's quirky cat, Zipper, is searching for him. Kevin was the much-loved Great Nephew of Muriel Keogh, Thomas Keogh (Margaret Dineen) Mardi and Lester Bartlett and predeceased by Joan and Bill Rankin Sr., Betty Keogh and Margaret Keogh, and by Dr. Roy and Isabelle Wills. Kevin is also mourned by many cousins across Canada. Kevin's loss is deeply felt by his life-long best friend, Michael Weaver. Kevin was Mike's Best Man when Mike married his wife, Rebecca. Kevin is Godfather to their son, Benjamin, whom he adored and with whom he spent many joyful hours playing. Kevin also loved Ben's baby sister, Charlotte. Kevin was the Manager of the Shell, Eagleson Road location. He enjoyed all the skills that he was learning and greatly appreciated the confidence that his boss, Greg Bailey, showed in him. Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass in Memory will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 in Holy Redeemer Church at 11 a.m. In memoriam donations to The Royal Ottawa Hospital - Substance Use and Concurrent Disorders Care, or the CHEO Mood and Anxiety Clinic are appreciated by the family. I arrived to service a sign at the Shell on Eagleson today, Kevin wasn't at his usual post, so I asked where the big man was. I am deeply sorry to hear of his passing.
I barely knew him, but the immediate rapport established from my first time at his station is a rarity. We shared a lot of laughs during my brief visits, they were the bright spots on difficult days.

I am an old friend and neighbour of Nancy and Jim.
Knowing the Gallagher's for twenty plus years we have become very good friends. After years of Nancy regaling us about the Kingsbury clan growing up, the many large family get together'sincluding the occasional gin gimlet! I feel I somewhat know you and your family through these stories. My hope is that time will help to heal you and let you reflect on all of the wonderful times that Kevin filled your hearts with love and joy.

Dear Jane, I am so sorry to hear of the huge loss you are suffering. From what I'm reading, he sounds like a remarkable man.

Moving to Kanata from the middle of nowhere New Brunswick, at age fourteen, was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. Kevin was one of the select few people who made that transition a lot easier than I ever could have imagined. He was also someone who helped me endure, without so much as the slightest snippet of judgement, the struggles that accompany mental illness. The world was a better place with him in it. Your loss is everybody's loss. He was the embodiment of peace, love, and acceptance. I will never, EVER, forget the impact that he had on the world in which I am privileged to exist. Thank you for blessing us with his presence. It may have been painfully short, but it was immeasurably profound.

Kevin was the best friend I ever had. When I first moved to Kanata I didn't know anybody, and Kevin was quick to be kind to me and made me feel welcome. He is a very large part of who I am today. He could make anybody laugh and he was loved by everyone he met. I can't believe he's gone. I always felt that there would be plenty of time to catch up and get back to where we were. I'm so sorry Roy, Jane, Ryan and all of Kevin's loving family.
