Kevin Tierney Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 14 to May 15, 2018.
Our dearest, loudest, and most vibrant Kevin died early Saturday morning after a long and stubborn fight with cancer. He is already so deeply missed at every dinner table, making jokes and fiery conversation. He died surrounded by his family, his wife Terry and children, Jacob and Brigid and her partner, BK -- and held by so many friends; Amy, Ron, Beverley, Larry, Joan, Anne, Claude, Ed, Christa, Robert, Alyson, Joe and his dear sisters, Heather and Patsy and family: Linda, Ryan, Erin, Tiger, Skipper, Marc, Reilly, Liam, Shannon and Michael and his deeply cherished "grandkids": Aria, Katie, Conner, Shani, Marcus and Kiera. His family's heart breaks for this recent loss so soon after the death of his dear brother, Gary. This is only the beginning of a massive circle of friends, family and film community in Montreal, and around the world that he loved with all his heart. These people, travelling the world, and of course, all things arts and culture filled up his life with beauty and joy. In respect of Kevin's detailed wishes, there will not be a funeral, but a lively "Irish" memorial to be announced shortly.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I knew Kevin back in the John Abbott days. He was full of energy and inspiration. I am walking the Camino de Santiago at the moment so will light a candle along the way. Rest in peace and God bless.

Dear Terry, Jacob and Brigid, Kevin was such a force of nature that it's hard to think he's left this plane. I know that he's in a place full of sunshine and love with his brother Gary, Mark Gervais Ben Queenan, and so many friends. I shall remember his great sense of humour and great generousity especially when we were setting up Cine Gael now in it's 26 year. May his sweet soul be at God's right hand as the Irish expression says. Anthony Kirby. Ireland and Montreal.

Dear Terry, Jacob and Brigid, I am deeply saddened to hear of Kevin's death. Somehow over the years we lost touch and I now I regret this greatly. Kevin was a dear friend and I will always remember his generosity, bring-to-tears humour and the many scrumptious meals we shared (best cook ever!) I am so sorry that he was taken so young and for your tremendous loss. He will be missed by so many. I send you lots of love in your grief and in your memories of such a fabulous man.

So sad to hear about Kevin's death. Although many years have passed since we spent time together, I still fondly remember our hilarious mornings over coffee in our communal house in Vancouver in the early 70s. Sitting around our kitchen table, Kevin's wit and entertaining style would help start the day off on a really high note. Wish we had kept in touch all these years. Wishing you, Terri, Jacob and Brigid, strength and love during this difficult time. Kevin's death is a profound loss.

Our hearts go out to you, Terry, Jacob and Brigid. Kevin shone bright. He lit up our city and our culture. We will miss the man, but the light shines on in his own body of work and in the brilliant family he leaves behind.

This is such sad, sad news.

He is my neighbour. He lives right across the street from me.

My sincerest condolences to his family. He was always the most kind, the most respectful, and the most encouraging to me... and to my art.

Deeply sorry to learn of Kevin's passing, I remember him fondly as a fellow English teacher at John Abbott College. Quick-witted and warm-hearted, he possessed a wide-ranging creative spirit and independent mind, one of the shining lights of the faculty. My condolences to his beloved family and friends.
