Richard P. Fisher

Richard (Dick) P. Fisher, age 87 of Lake, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2020, in Frostproof, Florida. Dick was born the son of the late Richard and Elizabeth (Cooney) Fisher on February 27, 1932, in Muskegon. He was united in marriage to Katherine Knoerr on November 13, 1954, with her predeceasing him on April 28, 2017. Richard served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from April of 1951 until his Honorable Discharge as a Sergeant in January of 1953. He spent his working career in the Home Building trades. He was a National Life Director for the National Association of Home Builders; State Director of the Home Builders Association of Michigan and served as Membership Chairman and Home Show Chairman for 30+ years for the Home Builders Association of Central Michigan. Richard was a member of the Michigan Airstream Club; he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States as well as many Canadian Providences. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. He was a faithful member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Clare. Survivors include his daughters, Karen (Wally Kimmel) Fisher of Oxford, Julie LaCross of Farwell and Cheryl Fisher of Lake; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; his brothers Gerard Fisher of Saginaw, William (Pam) Fisher of Poway, CA, and Robert (Peggy) Fisher of Scottsdale, AZ. Dick was predeceased by his stepmother Stella; a grandson Ian Kimmel and sisters Patricia Murphy, Rose Marie Fisher and Katherine LaBreck. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. A memorial service will take place on Friday, February 21, 2020, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church at 11 A.M. with Pastor David Winningham officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Clare V.F.W.
