He is survived by his brother, Thomas (Lynda) VanderGaag, Spokane, WA; sisters, Vicki (Mark) Hawkins, Kennewick, WA, Susan (Dale VanZandt) VanderGaag, Spokane, WA, Sandra Bradshaw (Larry Ellsworth), Spokane, WA; nieces, Elizabeth (Michael) Douglas, Spokane, WA; Emily Gallagher, Spokane, WA, Amy Hawkins, Richland, WA, Jennifer (Brandon) Underwood, Spokane, WA, Tara (Brad) Alfano, Spokane, WA, Megan VanderGaag, Deer Park, WA; nephews, John (Christina) VanderGaag, Kennewick, WA, Jeff Hawkins, Spokane, WA, Daniel Hawkins, Kennewick, WA, Timothy Bradshaw, Spokane, WA, Thomas Bradshaw, Spokane, WA. Sincere thanks to Dr. Larry Eastburn and his wife, Elaine, and the entire staff of Hospice House of Spokane for their wonderful care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for any donations in his memory to be made to Hospice House of Spokane. "Dear Family and Friends, I just wanted to let you know I made it home. The journey wasn't an easy one, but it didn't take too long. Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh and new. I wish that you could close your eyes and see it too. Please try not to be sad for me. Try to understand. God is taking care of me-¦ I'm in the shelter of His hands. Here there is no sadness, no sorrow, and no pain. Here there is no crying and I'll never hurt again. Here it is so peaceful when all the angels sing. I really have to go for now-¦ I've just got to try my wings!" A Memorial Service will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Hennessey Smith Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division St. Spokane, WA.
