Life Epitome
According to her Mother, Kierra Jeanese Dunn was a doll purchased from Wal-Mart. But actually, she was born on February 21, 2000, to Tecola C. Adair and Deodtrie J. Dunn in Houston, Texas. Her first daycare was Pastor Della Bufford. She attended Channelview Pre-K, KidzTown, CISD Harvey Brown Elementary, HISD Holland Middle and graduated from Channelview High School in 2018. Kierra was active in extracurricular activities, in middle school she played volleyball, and was Homecoming Duchess in 7th grade. In high school she was in Color Guard, Anime Club, and was in the Architect Club where she won a paid trip to Dallas to compete on the regional level. Kierra received a degree in Cosmetology from San Jacinto College and was pursuing her degree in Education.
Kierra always made sure she kept at least one job at all times, she was a hustler. She worked with her Granny at multiple law offices, with her Mother at a CPA firm, at KidzTown, Sysco Foods, multiple pizza chains, Ulta Beauty, and multiple delivery services. She volunteered at the YMCA teaching volleyball and at her home church Miracle Deliverance doing face painting. Kierra loved the magnetism and beauty of makeup. Often she used her expertise in applying makeup for proms, baby showers, and cosplay. In 2022 she started working at Harvey Brown as a Behavioral & SPED Paraprofessional. She had a major impact on the students and the teachers. She was also the MasterMinds coordinator, after school program. Within the program she taught the students volleyball, dance, gymnastics, including scheduling. Prior to her demise, she was teaching the 2025 summer MasterMinds. Kierra was also active in the AFT Union. She was an active protestor, lastly participated in the No Kings protest. She volunteered at multiple Comic Book Conventions such as DreamCon and Anime Matsuri.
Kierra loved to have fun - she was a big kid. She was active in Cosplay, reading and watching Anime, her favorite was Black Butler. Kierra was very creative. As a child, she wanted to be a fashion designer, she drew designs for her line called Frut Punch. This creativity helped in her career.
Kierra was a participant in the Channelview ISD Leadership Development program as an inspiring teacher. As a highlight of her work during the program, Kierra was selected to present her project to District Leaders retreat. Due to her hard work and dedication to the students of CISD, the District was in the process of working with San Jacinto College to offer Kierra a scholarship to obtain her bachelor's degree in education (she didn't even know she was about to be offered the scholarship). Kierra was just hired as a Behavioral ParaProfessional at HISD August 2025 - 2026 school year.
On June 19th, 2025, Kierra and friends were at her favorite place, the beach. She loved the water since she was a child. While enjoying the water, she was overtaken. It brings peace to her Mother knowing that she died enjoying her life. It brings comfort and sadness to her Mother that Idemudia, her friend tried to save Kierra, but yet also lost his life. He will always be a hero.
