Kikuko Whann Obituary
Kikuko "Khris" Whann, 77, of 211 Holyoke Road died Thursday at her home after being struck by a car.
She was born in Osaka, Japan on March 18, 1929, the daughter of Yoshizo and Kenue Mihamikawa.
She was a homemaker, and was formerly employed as a seamstress at Bobbie Brooks and the Butler Blind Association.
She was a member of the Sakura, which is a Japanese women's association.
She is survived by her son, Victor D. Whann and his wife, Robin, of Butler; her daughter-in-law Terry Whann of Michigan; four brothers, Takehira, Tadayoshi, Masahiko and Jun Mihamikawa, all of Japan; and two grandsons, Jacob and Nicholas Whann of Butler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard D. Whann, who died on April 29, 1996, and her son, William R. Whann, who died on Oct. 11, 2002.
WHANN — Friends of Kikuko "Khris" Whann, who died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave. Services will follow at 8:30 p.m. with her brother-in-law, Rev. Michael Whann, officiating. She will be buried in Butler County Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made out to the American Heart Association.

Vic, Robin, and Family
Though we did not know your mom, we just last Thursday learned of your tragic loss. My daughter Katie will always remember you with a smile Vic for teaching her a few dance moves when she was younger. I see you and Robin in my mind with smiles on your faces as well. From what I am reading here, you must have inherited your friendly personality Vic from your mom. I know that since Katie lost her Grammy Alayne and now her Grandpa Dick, life will never been the same. We hold dearly to our happy memories. After working years in a hospital, I always pray for people to go on to heaven without experiencing long periods of pain and suffering. Those left behind are the ones who suffer. I know how you are feeling - the loss of one we love is not easy. As you know we lost two in such a short time. We knew your mother and father well. You were at our house so many times with our son Paul. Your Mom is now with your dad and God, just as Raylene is with her Mom and God. The long line of people waiting at Martin's to express their condolences shows the love and respect they all had for your Mom and Grandmother. Dear Victor and family,
We are so saddened by the sudden and trajic loss of your dear mother, Khriss. Even though we personally didn't know your mother, we knew that she was a very nice, well-liked lady who was always working outside in her yard.
We live just a few houses from your mother's beyond Orchard on Holyoke and it will never be the same around here not seeing her outside.
I saw her working outiside as I drove past just a short time before that terrible accident. She would always smile and wave as I would drive by.
Everyone here in this neighborhood knew and loved your mother dearly. She will be greatly missed.

I'm so sorry about the tragic loss of your Mother. I have so many memories of your family when I was growing up. I still make the origami figures that she taught me to make one Christmas. And I'll never forget the Christmas I got a chemistry set - and I made disappearing ink - and put it on her gorgeous sweater. She stayed so calm while it took forever to disappear.
