Kim Mallock-Hutsell
January 20, 1957 - March 21, 2022
Modesto, California - Kim Ilene Mallock-Hutsell passed away way too soon on March 21, 2022, surrounded by family and friends after a short hospitalization. Kim was born in Florida as the only child of James and Shirley Mallock. Her parents were both active in the US Air Force, which seemed to foster a love of travel for Kim. Shortly after Kim's birth, they were stationed in Japan and resided there until Kim was six. Her parents returned to the U.S. and settled in Vacaville, Ca. Kim grew up in Vacaville as the only child but remained close to another military family, the Scaramella family, including her Aunt Jody and cousins Leslie, Leanna, and Roger. She proudly graduated with a Bachelors Degree from U.C. Davis, completed her Master's Degree at CSU Sacramento, then became an LMFT, working with the mentally ill most of her career. Kim lived in Davis, Sacramento, Stockton, and finally settled in Modesto, where she met her husband of over 34 years, Glenn Hutsell. Kim devoted her life to helping those struggling with mental illness. Her career included working for Stanislaus Behavioral Health Services and Stanislaus Superior Court. Kim had many hobbies and interests. An excellent gardener, she recently became a Master Gardener through the Stanislaus UC Extension Program. She loved many genres of music and worked for the Strawberry Music Festival for over 25 years. You could often find Kim camping and traveling. Kim was also involved with animal rescue, most recently adopting her beloved Great Danes. Kim's home was always filled with the love of a variety of dogs and cats. Kim is survived by her husband, Glenn Hutsell; she was the beloved mother to her son, Chance (Alexa) James Hutsell, and stepmother to Matt (Amanda) Hutsell and Shannon Hutsell. Kim was a grandmother of five and a great-grandmother of two. She is also survived by many cousins in Michigan and across the country. Kim left a strong impression on all that met her, having life-long friends of 50+ years. Kim was the heart of her family and was taken from all of us too soon.
A celebration of life for Kim will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 1-4p.m. at Concetta Restuarant, 1205 J St, Modesto, Ca.

Remembering the 10+ years of doing Kim´s hair brings nothing but wonderful memories. She was always so happy, humming along to the songs playing on the radio.

We would have long talks about what she loved most: grandkids, pets, and next travel adventures. She was so proud of her veggie garden and alway looked forward to the holidays where she would be surrounded by her family.

Such a kind and sweet soul. She is missed dearly. Nora
