Robert Barber Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 7 to Aug. 8, 2012.
June 25, 1960 - August 3, 2012
Bob, our adventurous, loving, and generous son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather passed away on August 3rd 2012. From the beginning, he knew what he wanted from life and never let anything slow him down. Those who had the fortune of spending time with him knew this, and their lives were greatly influenced because of it. At the young age of 52, he had experienced more of life than others do in a lifetime. He traveled the world, he made a name for himself and his family, and worked almost as hard as he played.
Bob was the happiest when he was surrounded by his family doing the things he loved. And although he was good at everything he did, he especially loved to hike, golf, fish, and watch his kids play sports. He was always their number one fan. He never missed one of his daughter's softball games, even if it was across the country; and he loved to brag about his son's swimming state championship and his Ironman finishes. He had a deep and abiding love for his amazing wife. He had a sense of humor that was like none other. His wit was unmatched and he was the master of all pranks. Anyone who met Bob will never forget him.
Bob's dream, since he was little, was to travel the world. He worked harder than anyone to make that dream come true. He traveled to 36 different countries and visited every continent except Antarctica. He prized his education, earning a bachelor's degree from Utah State University, and two graduate degrees from the University of Utah and Michigan State. With this education, he went on to hold many important positions in multiple companies, with the most recent being Vice President of Sourcing at Boart Longyear.
Bob is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jennifer; children Nikki Day (Brody) and Danny (Demi); his parents Bud and Linda Barber; his brother Scott Barber (Julie); and his father and mother in-law Doug and Marilyn Ovard. His Christmas present last year was his first grandson, Cashton Day, who arrived on Christmas evening.
People always told us that Bob was one in a million, but we know that that doesn't do him justice. He was one of a kind. He will always be missed, but never forgotten.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 10th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy, Utah with interment to follow. A visitation will be held Thursday, August 9th from 6-8:00 p.m. and also Friday from 12:45-1:45 p.m. all held at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, please make a tribute donation to the American Heart Association at donate.americanheart.org. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.larkincares.com.
