Kirk Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 23, 2022.
Our Husband, Father, Papa and Brother passed away peacefully on December 20, 2022 after valiantly battling with Alzheimer's disease.

Kirk was born in Brigham City, UT and grew up in Magna, UT with his parents John Edward and Madge Fuller Anderson, his sister Randee (Brent) Robles, and brothers Tyler and Terry (Tracy).

Kirk married Linda Canick on February 14,1970. They have been married for 52 years. They have two children Amanda (Michael) Ronan and Justin (Kelly) Anderson and two grandchildren whom he adored, Amelia and Xavier Ronan.

Kirk retired from Tooele Army Depot after 29 years of service in June 1995 at the age of 48. He was drafted in the Army and served for two years, one of those overseas in Vietnam.

Kirk had racing pigeons most of his life which he enjoyed. He loved the competition of racing and the friendships he made. He loved his pigeons like they were his children, sometimes more than his own children. He would take his kids pigeon training with him and they had many adventures along the way.

Kirk also enjoyed golfing weekly with his friends Stoney, Kent, and Gary. He and Stoney were very competitive with each other and kept a scorecard for the year. Whoever had the lowest points had to pay the other one at the end of the year. They made sure they found the worst looking money to pay the debt.

Kirk loved adventuring out in the West Desert with his dog. He would bring home treasures he found. Some were good, others weren't but they were put on display in the backyard.

Our family would like to thank the loving caring staff at the William E. Christoffersen Veterans Home Hall of Heroes. A special thank you to Rosalie, Annalise, Rosa, Sharon and Omar for the loving care they gave to Kirk. There are other special angels that work there but we do not know all of their names that also gave him loving care. The care they give our Veterans warms my heart. They really love what they do and consider their patients family.

Kirk was preceded in death by his Parents and brother Tyler.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Bountiful City Cemetery 2224 S 200 W, Bountiful, UT 84010. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Salt Lake Veterans at https://www.cdceportal.va.gov/donate_online/ or donate to the Alzheimer's Association.

Kirk was such a joy to work with at the VA. I loved hearing him sing songs - especially Johnny Cash. He will be dearly missed.

So sorry for your loss! All those years on Christmas Eve that we spent together was a blast. I can picture him up in heaven surrounded by the pigeons that he loved.

We were so saddened when we heard about Kirks passing. He was a kind and caring man who loved his family. When Amanda became part of our family, he welcomed us with friendship. You have our deepest sympathies in your loss.

It is so hard to lose a loved family member. I hope all of your good memories and times together will shine through right now. Kirk was a good man and I remember his very happy smile.

Linda, Amanda, and Justin, we´re so sorry for the loss of Kirk. You all have been so wonderful to him and took care of him so well. I have so many memories of him over the years, but the nicest one was when we told him at our Christmas Eve party that our garbage disposal had clogged up (too many potato peelings!) We woke up on Christmas morning when he knocked at the door to help us fix it having driven clear up to Bountiful! I will never forget that. You can be proud of his unselfish acts of kindness. Love, Gaylan and Iva Croshaw

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

Kirk was a great neighbor and friend. He worked with cub scouts and my son. He loved his pigeons. He loved his family!
