Kirk Hill Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 1, 2024.
Kirk Michael Hill was born in Clarksburg West Virginia on September 6, 1956. He was preceded in death by parents, Cecil Ralph Hill and Leona Chidester Hill and is survived by his husband- Kenny Kim, Sister-Melanie Hill and Sister-in-Law-Deborah Stephenson.

His first few years began on a farm in Mt. Claire, West Virginia, in a house that his father built. There, his love for all animals developed quickly. During high school and college, he raised funds and volunteered for the Harrison County Humane Society in West Virginia. Throughout his life, his compassion and empathy for animals continued. He adopted many cats and dogs over the years. His latest, his beloved dog Toby, was always by his side.

His work ethic was inherited from his parents. Like most kids, he was a paper boy, mowed lawns and helped neighbors with anything they needed. One of his unique jobs was grooming poodles for dog shows. He was just a young teenager but caught on quickly and became an accomplished groomer. Working his way through college with several jobs, Kirk graduated from Fairmont State College in Fairmont, WV, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He did not hesitate to get his first job at Burroughs Corporation in Charleston, WV. where he was quickly promoted and able to relocate to Atlanta, GA.

He soon discovered his love of real estate and worked diligently to become a realtor. This became his lifelong passion. He started his career at Holley Realty and most recently was with Better Homes and Gardens. Partnering with Mercedes Ruehle, they became a perfect match and were successful top sellers as well as close friends.

With his family, friends, clients and even strangers, he was always giving of his time, heart and soul. His sense of humor was quick and witty which often broke the ice and made people laugh and feel at ease.

Kirk built a large community of friends and colleagues over the years, and he will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Donations in his honor can be made to PAWS Atlanta, A no-kill animal shelter and pet rescue in Atlanta. https://www.pawsatlanta.org/

We were colleagues. I don´t remember exactly how we meet, probably agent caravan. But I do remember thinking "what an exceptionally kind human". And a gentleman. I always knew we trusted each other implicitly. I valued his friendship and professionalism. My deepest condolences to all y´all. We lost a good one.

I met Kirk 20 years ago as a fellow Realtor. He was one of the kindest, sweetest Realtors and person! He was always complementary, and I enjoyed seeing him periodically around our neighborhood. The world certainly needed more people like him with his ability to share his positivity and welcoming outlook. I will miss him and try to honor his legacy by following in his footsteps. Sending much love to his family and associates. Jan Thurston

Kirk is one of a kind. I am so happy to have met him. He always spoke of coming to my class and finally got an opportunity to attend. I was so thrilled. He was one of the kindest person I know. He gave everyone there flowers while in his presence. I will never forget him.

Well as childhood friends and neighbors he was our older brother. I even paid a visit to the ER because I was so excited to see him coming across the street to visit. I was jumping on the bed and cut my eye. Stitches were in order. I must have been 7 which would have made him 12-13
