Frank A. Occhiato, 70, of Memorial Highway, Dallas, died Thursday at the Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
He was born April 20, 1934, in Pittston, a son of the late Rocco and Theresa (Rubino) Occhiato. He was a graduate of the Pittston Township schools and was an Army veteran. A former resident of Plains and Kingston, he was employed at Jewel Tea Company and Standard Coffee Company for many years. He was later employed as the manager of Basically Bagels, Kingston. He also was a part owner of the former Hi-Lites Lounge, Kingston, and was a member of the Hi-Lites musical ensemble. Mr. Occhiato was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Kingston. He also belonged to Musicians Local Union 140.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Ann Arnone, Nettie Panunti, and Katherine Solano.
Surviving, wife, the former Dolores Stella, with whom he would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 6, 2005; son, Rocco Occhiato, Netcong, NJ; daughter, Darlene Lieberman, Mountain Top; grandchildren, Rocco Occhiato Jr., Daniel Occhiato, Brooke Lieberman, Ethan Lieberman.
The funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from Maher-Collins Funeral Home, 360 N. Maple Avenue, Kingston, with a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call Sunday from 3-6.

I enjoyed so much working with this fine gentleman for a number of years. I really looked up to and respected him. Sorry we can't be there but out thoughts and prayers are with Dolores and family.

May God continue to bless them.
