KOFFI EDOH Obituary

KOFFI OTTO EDOH  
Koffi Otto Edoh, beloved husband, father and father-in-law, brother, and grandfather, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2012, following complications from liver cancer surgery. He was 73 years old and is sorely missed. Koffi was born in Amou-Oblo, Lakes region, of the Republic of Togo on February 4, 1939 to Goka Edoh and Ama Kemi. The eldest of six children, he completed high school at the Lycée Bonnecarrere of Lomé, Togo before attending Université de Toulouse in France for a graduate degree in Physics. He earned a PhD, also in Physics, at the University of Arizona in 1983. He is survived by his loving spouse of 42 years, Ayele Malalasoa Edoh and his four children: Henri Komlan Edoh and partner Mariama Richards; Nadia Afi Edoh, husband Yusuke Kanamori and son Mawuli Kimito Kanamori; Melissa Amah Edoh; and Ayaboe Komlanvi Edoh. He is also survived by four of his siblings: Pierre Koffi Edoh, Ernestine Doh-Koffi, Franck Yao Edoh, Antoinette Esena Doh. He was predeceased by his brother Prosper "Happy" Edoh. Friends will be received at PUMPHREY'S BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE FUNERAL HOME, 7557 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, MD on Monday, October 8, 2012 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be held at Saint Mark Presbyterian Church, 10701 Old Georgetown Rd., North Bethesda, MD on Tuesday, October 9 at 10 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.  Donations in memory of Koffi may be made to Saint Mark Presbyterian Church at the above address.  Please view and sign the family guestbook www.pumphreyfuneralhome.com

I did not know Koffi long or well, but we did have a few very enlightening conversations, and I am sorry he left so soon. In my experience, he always stood tall and spoke quietly, kindly, and wisely. He and his friendly smile will be missed. My sympathy to his fine family.
