Kristen Barney Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 25 to Oct. 26, 2003.
Kristen Gail Barney 1983 ~ 2003  Kristen left us too soon, and returned into the loving arms of Jesus on October 22, 2003, following a tragic accident, while returning home from a vacation with her family and friends at Lake Powell. Kristen was born April 16, 1983 in Provo, Utah to Allan and Claudia Barney. She graduated from West Jordan High in 2001. Kristen spent her entire life loving and caring for those who could not care for themselves. From the age of 16 she worked caring for the disabled. She spent the last six months working at, and falling in love with Lake Powell. She made many friends there from all over the world. Our thanks to them for filling her summer with fun, laughter and love.  Kristen enjoyed horses, boating, swimming, scrap booking, her friends and Eeyore. She will be greatly missed by her family and the many friends whose life she touched. Kristen is survived by her loving parents, Allan and Claudia; brother, Michael; grandparents, Charles and Vera Barney and Jean Farnsworth. She is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Gail D. Farnsworth. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 27, 2003 at 12:00 noon at Valley View Funeral Home Chapel, 4335 West 4100 South. The family will receive friends at a visitation Monday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.

I have so many memories of Kristen. I've got to know and spend 5 wonderful years with her. She was always there when I needed to talk and I'm going to miss that so much. She always said that Kaden and Brooklyn will marry when they are older. She had the wildest imagination but that's what I loved best about her. She will always be in my heart. My prayers are with you, Allan, Claudia and Michael

Dear Allan and Claudia,

I am so sorry for your loss. And I am so sorry I missed the services yesterday. We had a family emergency with our oldest daugher so I couldn't make it. I am also very sorry I didn't know your daughter. We should get together more often as a family. I am reminded when there is a tragedy that life is so precious and it is important to keep close to family. Allan, I remember you when you were younger. I always loved visiting with Aunt Vera.

I hope you can find peace in your sorrow, and be assured you are in the hearts of others.

Your Cousin,

Eddy Jean

Kristen left us sooner than we expected, but it's just like her to do the unexpected. My heart goes out to everyone who knew her, because she's the kind of person you wanted around forever. I know she'll be watching over me, and I wouldn't have it any other way. We said goodbye for now, but she'll pick me up at the pearly gates in a bright red Mustang with a plate of Dee's cheese fries.

Today my best friend was laid to rest, but her spirit will remain awake in my heart forever.

Kristen and I have been friends since we were 15. No words can express the joy she brought into my life and the life of others. As I sat to remember Kristen I came to realize that I should stive to be more like her. Kristen always had something nice to say about everyone. Kristen had so much life and I seldom saw her cry. Kristen was happy with her life and her choices. I would love to be more like her. She was a wonderful person and she will always live in my heart forever. I am so sorry for her loss. Claudia, Allen, and Micheal I will never forget you. Thank you so much for letting Kristen be a part of my life. I loved her like she was my own sister.

I've known Kristen since I was very little, me and her practically grew up together while she lived in Oregon for the short time she did. Claudia use to babysit me! Just a few years ago I had the privilage of flying to Utah and spending a couple of weeks with her there, and driving back to Oregon with her and her family. I would have to say that was my favorite summer ever, she is the sweetest and funniest person you will ever meet! I will miss you dearly Kristen and look forward to seeing you again! Allan, Claudia, & Michael I love you all dearly and just remember shes in a better place now!

To the Barney Family,

Our hearts are broken with the loss of your daughter, for we considered her our daughter too. Nobody could of been a better friend to Marylynn than Kristen. One was seldom mentioned without the other, they were quite a pair. Through the good times and the bad,

Kristen has always been there. We love her and will miss her.

I only knew Kristin a very short time, however the time that I got to spend with her was incredible. She was always smiling and had a humorous story to tell me. The last time I saw her was leaving the boat rentals office and promising to call to hang out in the next week when I moved to Salt Lake. I miss you Kristin and look forward to seeing you again. You left us suddenly, but you are free from this world. "Oh time, thou must untangle this, not I. It is too big a knot for me to untie" -William Shakespear. The world has lost someone truly great.

All my love,

Kristen will be severely missed by all. At Lake Powell, her and Andrew were two of the first to take me in and befriend me other than my previously made friends. This is a poem written for her.

Goodbye

How do you know when to say "'til next time",

Or when to really say "Goodbye"?

How do you know when you'll run out of time?

Death has no warning.

It gives you no time.

How do you cope when you didn't know to say "Goodbye"?

Death isn't fair.

It leaves us no choice,

but to carry on without someone we love.

We're never to see your smiling face.

You're gone now without a trace.

To see you once more,

To have the chance to say "Goodbye",

Would be a wonderful gift to say the least.

If possible, I'd turn back the clock and prevent death from coming.

If given the chance, next time I'd know to say "Goodbye".

Dedicated in loving memory of:

Kristen Barney

Kristen was always so much fun to be around. I didn't get to see her as often as I would've liked, but the times I did was a blessing. Her charming personality and crazy sense of humor is what I will miss the most!! Kristen was definitely one of those people that when they cross your path, you are not soon to forget them!

"Do you wanna see my sad face?" always made me smile!!

Love and prayers!

Kristen worked for me for a short time, and we became good friends. Kristen and I would spend hours every night talking before she would leave to go home. We got to be really close. Her love of life, her contagious smile, and her compassion for those less fortunate was unparalleled. The world has truly lost an angel. I will miss her dearly.
