Kristi Demers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 8, 2025.

Kristi Faircloth Demers, 65, of Orange Park, Florida, passed away peacefully with family by her side on June 28, 2025, after a courageous 9-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She is now healed and in the arms of Jesus. Though she left us far too soon, her legacy lives on within us - the countless lives and places she touched with her love, compassion, and profound understanding of life's true values.

Kristi was born in Wichita, Kansas to Nadine and Don Faircloth on October 17, 1959. She then became a Florida girl through and through when her family moved to Orange Park in the 1960s. Growing up, Kristi embraced a love of nature, valued strong family bonds and friendships, enjoyed the thrill of driving fast cars, and developed her unique ability to find beauty and potential in everyone she encountered.

For more than 25 years, Kristi was a devoted teacher with the Clay County School District where she helped thousands of young people find their voice and pave their way to adulthood. She led by example, earning her Bachelor's Degree in Education later in life, the first in her family to do so. "Ms. Demers" was the teacher you will always remember for motivating you to believe in yourself and do more than you ever thought possible.

Kristi's greatest pride was in raising her children, Michael and Danielle. Her spiritual foundation is deeply rooted in her family, who embody her values of perseverance, creativity, and a deep love for life. Many things brought her joy - spending quality time with family and friends, riding horses, dancing, rescuing pets, traveling, but her true source of joy came from her grandbabies.

She is survived by her brother Mark (Cecilia) Faircloth, son Michael (Rachel) Demers, daughter Danielle (Christopher) Bozeman, grandchildren Audrey, Amelia, Kennedy, Kingsley, Ronan, Lily, and Madison, as well as her niece and nephew, several aunts, uncles, and cherished cousins. Kristi is predeceased by her parents.

Kristi's family wishes to thank the oncology team at Mayo Clinic at Jacksonville for their endless support during the last year, as well as Community Hospice at Baptist South for their loving end-of-life care.

Her memorial service will be held on Friday, July 18 at 11 a.m. at Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Kristi's life and will be received by family at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Safe Animal Shelter of Clay County at safeanimalshelter.com
