KULDIP SINGH

It is with great sadness that we inform you, Kuldip Singh, better known as Delmar, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Delmar was born in Little Biaboo, Mahaica Creek, Guyana on June 26, 1949 to a large family. He left Guyana in 1970 on a scholarship to study at the Aberdeen College of Commerce. He was married December 24, 1977 to Gloria and lived in London, England for a while where his daughter Emma Jane Singh was born on May 11, 1982. He immigrated six months later to Winnipeg, Canada after falling in love with it instantly on an earlier visit. Delmar was always at heart a true Guyanese person but also a passionate Canadian who eagerly adopted the values of this country. Delmar was a pragmatic, single minded leader, a true entrepreneur and visionary who valued and believed in his family more than anything and he devoted his life to bringing his family together and bettering their lives collectively. He was always looking for new business opportunities to get his family involved in right up until his death. Delmar would get involved with other people's problems providing sincere guidance and inspiration. He will be known in Winnipeg primarily as for his time at Avenue Meat Market (approximately 25 years) and most recently the Green Brier Inn which he regarded as one of his greatest achievements for many reasons known to the people close to him. He was predeceased by his father, mother, two brothers and his sister who needed him and called him home and with whom he is with now. He is survived by his loving daughter Emma, son-in-law Walter, sisters Betty, Mina, and Savi, brothers, Mark, Paul and Robin, his nephews Haimchand, Sacha, Marvin, Karlos, Little Kenny, his niece Marie, great-nephews Sanjay and Aryan, his brother-in-law and favourite fishing buddy Henry, his former wife and best friends Gloria, Mick, Sabina, Ernie, Walter and his wife Doreen, Jack, Neville, Uncle Bancy, Bodo, Channa Boy, the staff of the Green Brier Inn and by many, many more family and friends around the world. Delmar will be intensely missed but never be forgotten and will live on through his friends and family and above all his life example. We will never forget his laughter and his dancing. He took joy in being around people and made friends easily. Delmar was a father, father-in-law, brother, uncle, partner, work colleague and boss but above all was a best friend. Please come and help us celebrate his life at Thompson In The Park located at 1291 McGillivray on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. Viewings are at 1:00 p.m. and the Service is at 2:00 p.m.
