Kurt was a very great friend in grade school at Gifford and still a friend in Jr. HS at Abbott. I played football with him at Abbott in 9th grade, I never played because I was pretty small. In grade school he would come home with me a couple times a month for lunch, (we used to walk home and then back for lunch). My mom was always amazed at how much Kurt could eat, 2 or 3 PB and J sandwiches (she would always say, "want another sandwich Kurt, and he would respond, SURE!"). , a bowl of soup and 3 glasses of milk. Sometimes I would go to his house for lunch too. They had a big farm kitchen table in the kitchen. I contacted him about 8 year ago and met him at Paul's Restaurant for lunch when I was in Elgin. We had such a great time talking. He told me all about his Air Force experience, water department and family, it was great to hear his stories. He remained in life, a really great person. He and I were so glad we took time to to get together. He was one of my great friends in grade school a wonderful memory. I am so sorry to read about his passing.

I was in Mr. Eshelman's 7th grade English class. I thought he was cool. I remember him making us do a lot of in class writing but the thing that stood out the most was his respect for his students. So sorry for your loss.
