Kurt Andrew Ryal

Kurt A. Ryal, 63, passed away Thursday, April 07, 2022. Kurt was born October 30, 1958, to Lyle E. and Betty J. (Carr) Ryal in Mason, Michigan and graduated from Mason High School in 1977. After graduating from Michigan State University he taught history and government in the alternative education program at Holt High School in Holt, Michigan.
Early in his adult life he worked on several different offshore oil rigs and in a shipyard building oil rigs as a roustabout in Louisiana. Kurt proudly served in the U.S. Army and spent most of his tour of duty in Germany. Later in life he left teaching and became an estate planner and an insurance agent for many years. Kurt enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid reader and trivia buff. He loved to travel and travelled extensively in the United States and abroad. He always had a ready smile for anyone he met and a tremendous sense of humor. Kurt touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
Kurt is survived by his sister Jacqueline (Joseph) Watkins, brother Krag Ryal all of Mason, and brother Kim Ryal (Jodene) of Tucson, AZ, his loving nieces and nephews, and his good friend Rob Pulver of Rockford, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Carole Ryal.
Following Kurt's wishes no formal services are planned. A private burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Mason. The family was gently cared for by the Dutcher Funeral Home of Coldwater, Michigan.
