Dear Suzanne,
It was with great shock and sadness that we learned of Kurt's passing today. Our hearts go out to you and your family. We understand and profoundly share your sorrow. John's mom passed away a few days after Kurt. She too battled cancer since 2007.
We will forever think of Kurt with a smile. What a priviledge it has been to have known him. We will always cherish the time we spent as neighbours: your warm hopitality during both the grandiose parties or the more intimate get-togethers in your beautiful home, the fun we had at the "toga party" down the street.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of sadness.
Take care of yourself,
Montsé, John, Sofia, Ariana and Jordi

Dear Suzanne,
I am so very sorry for your loss. Kurt was always willing to help, even just at the end of March agreeing to support a small fund-raising spaghetti dinner for my son Alex's basketball team. My thoughts are with you and your family during this time.

It is with a profound loss that we say goodbye to a very special man. Our relationship with Kurt goes back many years. We were there when Kurt first came to the NAC and, although our road had some bumps in it, our respect continued to grow.
We extend our deepest sympathy to Kurt's family.
Although he is gone from us in body his spirit will live on.

We are all saddened by this great loss.
Kurt was a wonderful man with a spirit of giving that knew no bounds.
Suzanne, you have our deepest heartfelt condolences.
I hoped so hard he would fight this illness.
I was in shock, I cried because it hurts to see good people go.You are not alone, so many will miss him.
Nanny and mom were very sad to hear of his passing and want to send you their best wishes.
He was always in our thoughts.
Nanny is grateful to have finally met him for her 72'nd birthday. She had never met the man who had helped her in person before...yet such was Kurts generous nature, even with strangers...its not often someone like that comes along...it is a serious loss to the community and he will never ever be forgotten by the lives he touched.
Be strong Suzanne, we are all there for you.

To Kurt's Loved Ones:
May the memory of this extraordinary man be a monument to be cherished by all of you.
Nicky and I also mourn his passing as he had a very special place in our lives in Ottawa.
Few are those with such a range of talents.
Being a superb chef was his vocation ... but being a loving, thoughtful, caring and generous human being was his greatest achievement.
We cannot count the number of times our paths crossed ... at the Centre, in our home, in our office ... always with a smile, a bon mot, striving for perfection in his craft combined with an unaffected manner that endeared him to everyone.
His passing is a great loss to all of us.
We loved him.
He shall remain in our memory for a long long time.

Dear Suzanne,
I'm sitting in the airport in Beijing, China and just received an email from a friend in Ottawa advising me of Kurt's passing. Although we haven't spoken for years the very vivid memories of our good times spent together have always remained, especially that trip that Kurt and your good self made to New York City when I was working for the Canadian Consul General.
I've noticed a few familiar names on the online guest book and I join all of them in extending to you my very heart felt sympathies and condolences.
I'm sure that Kurt is surrounded by the kitchen angels in heaven and preparing his next big feast.
God bless Kurt and look over you at this trying time.

As a cook, a Chef, a caterer and a leader, Kurt set the bar pretty high for himself and others to follow; however he did not only succeed from a culinary point of view.
He especially distinguished himself as a human being! I observed each time I met him how caring he was through the little everyday gestures he made towards his colleagues, junior staff members, friends and clients. A little piece of advice here, a few reserved words of welcome through the crowd at a reception there, an encouraging comment when he happened to visit me at Clair de Lune, a taste of that exceptional Financier he offered me last time I saw him at the NAC…
Kurt, your life has been a class act and you will be sorely missed. My deepest condoleances to your family.

We are all saddened by Kurt's passing. Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss.
Although we rarely worked directly with Kurt,we all worked long and strange hours in the building together. He was a very human, down to earth person. It was always real, and had little to do with your title. He was interested and curios and often kind.
We will miss him alot.

Please accept my sincere condolances on Kurt passing. While I primarily knew Kurt through business that we conducted with the NAC and also seeing and chatting with him a various industry and social events, I always felt he was a true gentleman and a genuinely fine individual. It was very sad to hear of his passing and he will be truly missed.
Best regards to his family and many friends.

Dear Suzanne
I send my deepest sympathy to you on the loss of Kurt. He was more than a friend, somebody I looked up to and admired. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, we would walk right up to Heaven and bring Kurt home again.
Rest in Peace Kurt make god laugh, and cook him a great meal.

About 25 years ago I met Kurt and Ashok. At once I was in awe of their synergy and devotion to the cause of Canadian cuisine, ultimate quality and above all - education.
By chance, I saw Kurt just last summer after more than a decade and as always he sparkled through his confident soft voice and friendly smiling eyes. I was surprised that he was in the midst of a life battle.
It is sad that certain recognition only comes after life yet reflection best frames who has passed. With humility, skill, hard work and obviously love, Kurt built a shrine to his passion and all have fed at his shrine. I am not a religious man but I recognize now how a holy man would live. This gentle giant comforts us through his touch. He enriches us.

As a former but long-time supplier to the NAC restaurants, it was my privelege to know and work with Kurt over several years.
I respected his dedication to quality and his strict efforts to provide only the best for his customers.
As an individual, he was also one of the best, and the supplier community in Ottawa has lost not only a customer, but a friend.

Suzanne et famille,
Sincere and deepest condolences on the loss of your husband and partner in life. Kurt will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched, from the students he taught to fellow chefs whom he mentored.
The culinary scene will sorely miss a totally dedicated and professional chef whose passion for the culinary world, and strong affiliation with the Humane Society are two great legacies he leaves behind.
As a fellow chef, who had many opportunities to work with and alongside Kurt, his love and passion for excellence in food quality and presentation will be a hard act to follow.
Kurt will be missed and Ottawa loses a real champion in the battle for Canadian cuisine.
