Rick Volner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 2, 2025.
Rick Volner, 75, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. Born on July 7, 1950, in Spokane, Washington, Rick lived a life marked by service, creativity, and deep devotion to his family.

Rick spent his formative years in Tucson, Arizona, where he graduated from Palo Verde High School in 1968. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. From October 1969 to 1975, Rick served aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War with the rank of E4. As a firefighter on board the aircraft carrier, he demonstrated courage and commitment that would define much of his life.

After completing his military service, Rick continued to embody the values of dedication and compassion in every aspect of his life. He was known for his gentle nature and unwavering patience-qualities that endeared him to all who knew him. Rick never had a harsh word for anyone and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

A man of many talents and interests, Rick found great joy in working with his hands. His woodshop was a place of inspiration where he crafted furniture, holiday decorations, and countless other creations born from his boundless imagination. His craftsmanship reflected not only skill but also love-each piece a testament to his care and creativity.

Rick also had a deep passion for genealogy and took great pride in tracing the roots of his family history. This pursuit connected him more deeply with those who came before him and allowed him to share their stories with future generations.

Above all else, Rick was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife Jamie Volner; his children Cameron Corella, Joy Herrera, Rachael Stant, Amanda Kamalii, and Rick Volner Jr.; as well as his siblings James and Ruth Volner and Cathy and Ray Kerege. He also leaves behind his beloved beautiful grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will cherish their memories of him.

Rick now joins those who went before him: his father Gene Volner, mother Kitty Volner, and younger brother Paul Volner.

Rick's legacy is one of kindness, service, creativity, and enduring love for family. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire acts of generosity and compassion in others.

The body returns to earth, a borrowed cloak released,
To nourish roots and new life when the world has ceased.
The air, a final breath exhaled, rises to the sky,
Carrying with it memories that will not die.
The spirit, like a river, flows to a farther shore,
Toward the Summerland of blessed souls, and so much more.

At the pyre, sorrow is offered to the flame,
A sacred, searing alchemy to purify the name.
Our tears for you are the water, cleansing and profound,
Returning to the ocean where all lost love is found.
But fire and water, earth and air, are not the sum of you;
Your essence lingers in the light, your spirit ever true.

Our weeping does not bind you, our grief is for the living,
A needful season for the soul, and for the grace of giving.
And in the quiet moments, when the wound has grown more kind,
We find you in the rustling leaves, the echo in our mind.
We see you in the sun´s bright gold and the moon´s gentle hue,
For you are a part of everything, forever made anew.

The wheel turns, as it always does, in endless, perfect motion,
Bringing loss and healing with the tides of life's vast ocean.
We mourn the love that left us, a journey all must make,
But hold fast to the promise that the dawning will awake.
One day we too will cross the veil and find that other shore,
merry meet, and merry part, and merry meet once more.
With love and light

My darling husband, as our song says You Had Me From Hello. We had 25 years of love and life together which to me was cut way to short. I never knew what love could be like until we came together. I will miss you for the rest of my days. I will forever remain your loving wife.
