Lamar Ramirez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 14, 2009.
Lamar Rodriguez Ramirez devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother, and aunt exited this earthly world and entered into God's Heavenly Kingdom on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at the age of 86 to be reunited with her dearly departed loved ones. A Laredo resident her entire life, Lamar learned the value of commitment and hard work at an early age in the family owned business, Rodriguez Grocery Store. She married and raised a family before returning to the workplace having retired from J.C. Penney after nearly twenty years of service. In addition to being devoted to God, her family, her many friends, and her co-workers, she put the needs of others before her own. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Lamar Rodriguez married Rodolfo "Rudy" Ramirez February 20, 1944. Together they were blessed with four children: Rodolfo "Rudy" Jr., Roberto, Lamar, and Anna. Lamar was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Rodolfo "Rudy" E. Ramirez, Sr.; her parents, Benigno and Lilia Rodriguez; brother, Raul "Rod" Rodriguez; sisters, Belia Rocha and Olga Dunn; brothers-in-law, Ramon Ramirez, Hilario Rocha, and Ramiro Ramirez; sister-in-law, Bertha R. Rangel. She is also preceded in death by her two beloved nieces Rosa "Rosie" Rocha and Jane D. Gonzalez. She is survived by her children Rodolfo E. "Rudy" (Guadalupe) Ramirez Jr., San Antonio; Roberto "Bob" (Doris) Ramirez, Buckholts, TX; Lamar (Javier) Montalvo, Laredo and Anna (Byron) Michael, San Antonio; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Rudy "Sonny" E. Ramirez III, Melissa Montalvo, Michelle Ramirez, Lori Montalvo, Steven Michael (Fiancée Jen Moe), Rudy Ramirez IV, Chloe Elise Salinas, Javier Gerardo Esquivel, Ricky Ramirez, Rudy Ramirez V, Sara (Ron) O'Leary, and Mark Elizondo. She is also survived by her siblings Esperanza (Gustavo) Ceja and Benigno (Elida) Rodriguez. The family greatly appreciates the dedication of her caretakers Linda Reta and Eva Arreguin. Also, Dr. Idelfonso Flores and staff, Laredo Downtown Pharmacy's Tomas Izaguirre and staff, Joe Martinez and family and Rocha family, in addition to her beloved sister Nella Ceja and her unconditionally devoted daughter Lamar Montalvo, both of whom visited with and selflessly tended to Lamar everyday. The family would also like to extend their utmost gratitude to Santa Rita Home Health for their excellent service and care. Pallbearers will be: Bob Ramirez, Javier Montalvo, Byron Michael, Steven Michael, Sonny Ramirez, Michael Salinas, Benny Rodriguez, and Cesar Esquivel. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Rudy Ramirez Jr., Melissa Montalvo, Michelle Ramirez, Lori Montalvo, Rudy Ramirez IV, Ricky Ramirez, Chris Turner, Gus Ceja, Rudy Ramirez V, Javier Esquivel, Jen Moe, and Hector Rodriguez.
