Lance, my beautiful cousin:
I agree with Paige. It is hard to believe you have been away for three years. Looking back at the family gatherings, you always had deep love for all of us! You also wore a 100-watt smile! We miss you, but we know one day, we will all be reunited!
Mighty love,

I receive notices whenever an entry is placed in this Guest Book. Lance, you are with the Lord and with my father (Uncle James).
I read in the Guest Book that today is your birthday, so today I will remember that beautiful smile and how much you loved the family! We miss you, but we have comfort in knowing that one day, we will be together again. I remember the family reunions, but when we see you again, it will be the family reunion that will top all of the other family reunions we have ever experienced. Peace be with you - my dear cousin and peace be with us all.
Love,

I can hardly believe that one year has passed already since Lance has gone home to be with the Lord. Every Sunday when we sing the doxology, I think of a "funny" that Lance and I shared with a glance about the words of the song. Lance told me once that when he was a child, the part of the song that says, "praise God all creatures here below", he thought the congregation was saying, "praise God all preachers here below." Needless to say, whenever we exchanged a quick glance at that part in the service, we would fight back the laughter. I guess it's safe to say that I think about you every Sunday on the Lords Day at the place in the service. You are missed.

Big Cuz,
It has taken me this long to begin coming to grips with and assilimating the gravity of your passing and the many lessons you have left for me. Your example as a son, brother, friend and father loom large as you did, effortlessly, what I still strive and even toil to manifest. Thank you for being an eternal living example of what it means to come all the way down to earth and be present in such a personal way. Our family will never be the same without you here but more importantly would have never been who are because you came. Most of all,I will never ever forget who you were and are to me. I can never be you, but no words can express my gratitude for helping me to be the man that am becoming.
Coming to meet you,
Malcolm
PS: And y'all were still undefeated on the hoop court (smile)

It has been almost a year since your transition. My heart still aches a little and I guess that is to be expected. Your mother, my cousin Toni will always be in my prayers. Your two sisters, your son and our entire family will be held up in prayers. If I listen to my heart, I can still see and hear your laugh! Your smile could light up even the darkest space. My father is no doubt up there with the Lord sharing stories about our family. You are loved and will always be remembered. We will see you one day in that city called Heaven!

Dearest Cousins,
I just wanted to let you know that you are still in my prayers as this year comes to an end. Our family has been hit hard this year, but I am confident that God will see us through our losses. When I close my eyes, I can still see that big Lance smile and the sparkle in his eyes. As you no doubt know, family was important to Lance as it was truly important to Aunt Narlie. My father (your Uncle James) is no doubt trading golf stories with Lance and they are probably talking about Tiger Woods with Tiger's dad. We will see Lance again. Our family was known for its family reunions. Can you imagine the reunion that is in store when we see our loved ones? Until then, know that I deeply love you all and if there is anything that I can do for you, please call on me. You will always remain in my prayers!
In Christ's Name,

My Big Brother and an incredible man, father, son and friend. I love you and miss you more than I can begin to express in such a public forum. Only God knows the void your death has left in the Booker family and in the lives of your friends and those who love you. Thank you for always being there for Paige and I and for loving our children and never missing a family function. As I prepare to go to Pittsburgh for Christmas, I remember all of the Christmases that we have spent together as a family--I will always love you and I will never forget the way you loved us--even in death.

TONI, DANIEL, DAWN, PAIGE, LANCE JR., & THE ENTIRE EXTENDED FAMILY,
MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU. YOU ARE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL & SPECIAL FAMILY. LANCE WAS AN EXAMPLE OF THAT. I BELIEVE THAT HE WAS TRULY THE MAN GOD WOULD HAVE HIM BE. I CAN HEAR THE WORDS, "WELL DONE, MY GOOD & FAITHFUL SERVANT". A PHRASE FROM 'TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL', COMES TO MIND: "OVER HERE THERE IS LIFE, OVER THERE, THERE IS LIFE BUT BIGGER". THE DEATH OF A CATAPILLAR IS A BUTTERFLY. FOR SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PERSON AS LANCE, HOW BEAUTIFUL MUST HE BE NOW. MAY YOU ALL BE BLESSED WITH THE PEACE THAT PASSETH UNDERSTANDING.

Lance,
To the "big brother" that I never had. I miss you very much- and recall this past year how we were beginning to become closer. It was always a pleasure to discuss sports, politics, the Steelers vs. The World, and other controversial and comical topics. You accepted me from the very beginning and made me feel a part of the family. We were able to bond as we "beat up" on the rest of the guys in the family in the infamous "two-on-two" hoop games. Thank-you for loving my wife (your sister), and my two sons (Cameron & Jaden), the way that you did. You will forever be in my heart.

Lance,
I wish you could see admiration and love that everyone had for you. You are a remarkable man. I feel blessed to have known you. I have so many wonderful memories of you. The first of course is that big beautiful smile. I remember you making fun of my fisher price camera at Mother's on Industry Street. Then how you used to squeeze my forehead. You were a wonderful big cousin. We really bonded when I stayed at your house and rode to North Carolina for the reunion. I'll never forget the laughs, smiles, great conversation and love. PS Thanks for"showing up" at greyhound bus station,my college graduation,my wedding and for just being there to brighten everyone's day.

Dearest Cousins,
I am at a real loss as to what words to say to bring you comfort. As you know, my father (your Uncle James), my sister-in-law and my father's sister (Aunt Mary Lee) all passed away this year. Lance came to my father's funeral. He truly loved his family. The things that got me through the loss of my father are the memories and the knowledge that my dad still lives in my heart. No one can take away our memories! As a family, we have always been strong. That said, God will see us through this. We just have to lean on each other and the Lord. Lance still lives in our hearts and those who loved him are certain of the promise that we will see him again. When we do meet him again, there will be much singing and we will see Lance's beautiful smile! Lance, I will not say goodbye. Rest in peace until we meet again!

To the Booker Family
My deepest sympathy to your family's loss. I have known Lance since I was five or six. I often think about all the fun we had growing up in Pittsburgh, and the Drama Classes that Mrs. Booker taught to all the neighorhood kids which I will always be grateful for, and how Lance was such a nice guy,a good actor as a kid, and how he loved sport. But the memory that I will alway have of him is when we were bused in Junior High School and we were walking home one day, some little boy was standing in a tree and asked me and Lance and our friend Kevin if we wanted to fight. Lance and I looked at each other and counted three of us one of him and of course said yes. That little boy jumped out of the tree and six or seven other bigger boys jump out of nowhere. That was the day that Lance and I learn to run, and run fast. Hold on to the good memories that you shared, and know that you are in my wife and I prayers. May God be with you at this difficult time

The Comfort of Christ's Coming
1 Thess 4:13-18
13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Dear Booker family, my condolences and prayers are sent to you in your time of grief. Lance was like my younger brother. In the course of his morning rounds in the Access Helpline he always managed to bring a smile or make us laugh. What a void he leaves. I pray that you receive comfort in knowing that God had a reservation for Lance at the most luxurious resort of all..streets paved with gold and pearly gates.

I met Lance in 5th grade at Boggs Avenue School Mt. Washington, after 6th grade did not have any more contact with him but remember he was a great person. I even had him playing baseball at Dilworth Park....for only knowing Lance for a couple of years at the age of 10-12, he left a lasting impression. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.....
