I just remember him getting on the floor with my dying dog. He didn't know my dog but in that moment we shared that dog. It touched me deeply. There were just three of us in that moment reality with his death. I will never forget it or him for being there.

Lance was not only our veterinarian - he was a former neighbor. He saved a domestic short-haired cat in Fort Collins by bringing him home to Gardnerville. He named him "Oliver". We fell in love with our neighbor's cat and when it was time for us to move - Lance generously gave Oliver to us. He lived with us for fifteen years and then passed away at the approximate age of 19. So- in the scheme of things - Oliver has returned to Lance's care as it should be.

To Dr. Gorrindo's lovely family,
Our deepest condolences. Lance was an exceptional young man, that took wonderful care of our diabetic dog, and our great big dog.
He was a wonderful Vet, who truly csred for the animals. I am greatful that he taught us, how to care for our dog, and not be afraid to give her a shot, to help her save her life.
May you take joy in the fact, that he touched so many lives.

Today we said goodbye to a kind, caring young man. Lance was so much more than our vet, his kindness extended beyond the pets he cared for, caring for us too. When my husband became ill, he encouraged me to seek treatment at the Mayo Clinic in AZ. We always chatted about our travels, our families etc. We were fortunate to know him, and will miss him deeply. Our condolences to Bob, Lynn, Tristan, Phil, Katie, Courtney, Savannah and Bridger.

We wil never forget his gentle nature with Arti and the continued reassurances he gave us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Dear Lance, what a blessing you were to us at a time when our 5 year old, 110 pound Yellow Lab "Sami" got cancer in her front right elbow. Your compassion and understanding was so touching to us that we knew we were doing the right thing in putting her down. Several times we wanted to stop by and say thank you, but never did. Our loss! May you be a peace now as you walk the shores of heaven, with the Father of us all! Toni and Gary Wendt

We; Jay, Muffin, Jack and Jill and myself, are very saddened by this news. He was one of a few individuals that possessed the compassion, dedication and spirit and truly loved our four legged family members as much as we did. When it was Laddie and Lucy's time to walk over the rainbow bridge, he held our hands and paws and cried with us. We are devastated by this news and we send our sincere sympathies to his family, to CVAH Doctors and Staff and to his community. We will forever thank him for taking care of us all and will miss him a great deal.
Sincerely

Dr. Lance was such a caring, lovely human being, and the best Vet we have ever had. I am at a loss for words...he always called us with such a sweet, warm voice, and really genuinely was concerned about what was going on with our Corgi's. May God bless him and give his Family peace today and forever. I will miss him.

Lance gave us so much in such great time of need. The comfort he gave us while mending our fur kids and then helping us mend when there was no more to be done. We will miss you always.
Unlike most days at the Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray. All the recent arrivals at the Bridge did not know what to think, as they had never seen such a day. But the animals who had been waiting longer for their beloved people to accompany them across the Bridge knew what was happening, and they began to gather at the pathway leading to the Bridge.
Soon an elderly dog came into view, head hung low and tail dragging.
He approached slowly, and though he showed no sign of injury or illness, he was in great emotional pain. Unlike the animals gathered along the pathway, he had not been restored to youth and vigor upon arriving at the Bridge. He felt out of place, and wanted only to cross over and find happiness.
But as he approached the Bridge, his way was barred by an angel, who apologized and explained that the tired and broken-spirited old dog could not cross over. Only those animals accompanied by their people were allowed to cross the Bridge. Having nobody, and with nowhere else to turn, the dog trudged into the field in front of the Bridge. There he found others like himself, elderly or infirm, sad and discouraged. Unlike the other animals waiting to cross the Bridge, these animals were not running or playing. They simply were lying in the grass, staring forlornly at the pathway across the Rainbow Bridge. The old dog took his place among them, watching the pathway and waiting.yet not knowing for what he was waiting.
One of the newer dogs at the Bridge asked a cat who had been there longer to explain what was happening. The cat replied,
Love Bill and Cindy, Murphy, Rusty, Sadie, Peaches, Emmy....

Dear Lance, I want to thank you so much for always being such kind person to everyone. You always take the time to ask how my illnesses and how things are with my family. The amazing part is I know it was true feelings not just to fill in the silence. You've taken care of every animal in my family for 3 generations. You're an amazing man. I remember one day when my appointment was with Dr. Gorrindo. I expected to walk in and see your dad. But surprisingly it was a happy, younger and a little bit taller than your dad, doctor. I must say you're also very hansome as my grammy used to say! So for the last time, Dr. Lance, thank you so much. And I may not see you again, but I know you crossed the rainbow bridge to check in on everyone's animals on your way to heaven. Have a safe trip! And I know we will meet again so this is just good bye for now.

Several years ago, Lance gave us a gift, Oliver-Jinx, a cat he had rescued from euthanasia in Fort Collins. Lance brought him home to Minden and gave him a loving home. We begged him to allow us to adopt "Jinx". Lance graciously agreed as that is the kind and generous person he is. Since then, he has provided care to our two dogs, and, of course, Oliver-Jinx. We will miss his engaging personality, in-depth knowledge, and devoted care. We take comfort in knowing, in another life, Lance will be there to care for our four-legged family members when it is time to say goodbye. Thank you Lance.

We are very saddened to have learned of Dr Lance's passing. His kind nature with animals and his excellent care was above and by far the best of any in his profession. He was always willing to listen and compassionate with the families of the pets. His passing will be greatly felt by all in the community. The Loetscher family and Brandy.

When a friend called today and told me of his passing, I screamed at her: "this HAS to be some horrid mistake or prank!"
Because...he is irreplaceable.
Because he's the only vet I trust my 5 dogs to.
Because when he put Rosie down two months ago, he was so kind and gentle...he let me take her out into the sunshine, he gave her valium to calm her, he told her "you're a good girl Rosie" as he pet her before giving her the shot....he couldn't have been kinder, or more gentle, or more caring. I stood to leave and he gave me a hug, saying, "It was her time, but I'm so sorry."
I don't know who I can take my animals to now because no one ever treated each dog as though they were HIS dog: and he loved them. He loved them all. With every fiber of his being: he loved each one.
Maybe that's what happened: he just loved too much.
I'd like to send condolences to his family but also say...he was my hero. Funny, kind, gentle, caring.
I am so very sorry for your loss. You will never realize what a huge impact he had on all of the rescue dogs I have. Or on me.

You know I hope how much we all care about all of you and are here for you not just now but down the road. We have so many fond memories of adventures in the fields , at the Lake and on the slopes - and a few in the pool!
