Larry Audet Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 15, 2018.
Larry was raised in Campbell River and Kitimat, and then settled in Port Alberni where he raised his family and began his career as a Marine Mechanic. He opened and ran his own business, L.A. Marine Ltd with his wife Sherry in 1987 to 2007. His dream was to travel across Canada on his motorcycle, so in 2006 he and Sherry made that trip of a lifetime.

Larry always said I don't want to wait until I retire to live. And so their lives were filled with cruises, motorcycle tours, road trips to Alberta to visit family and finally a two week get away where they fell in love with a small fishing town in Mexico. That trip turned into a yearly habit. Upon retiring they started driving and visited almost every Mexican state plus Guatemala and Belize; always spending the winter in their beloved Puerto Escondido. They collected many friends along the way, too many to mention.

After a European cruise in 2016, all of the adventure came to a devastating end when Larry was diagnosed with ALS. He faced his death sentence just as he had lived his life with grace and dignity. Larry didn't want to die and so he regretfully leaves behind his devoted wife of 32 amazing years, Sherry, his beloved sons Corey Wayne and Colyn André (Tara), and his loving grandchildren Emma, Andrew and Sylvie Audet. His brother Len (Laura); his adoring Sulzle/Huether, Audet/Lawlor and Chenard families and his dear chosen family and friends from Chila and Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico.

Larry was so dearly loved and will leave a huge gap in all of our lives. He had a wonderful relationship with his loving and caring homecare nurses, Colleen, Margaret and Occupational Therapist, Carmen.

A private cremation has been held and a Celebration of his life will take place at 11 am on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Best Western Barclay, 4277 Stamp Ave, Port Alberni, BC.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the ALS Society of BC. WWW.ALSBC.CA, who faithfully supported Larry with the equipment he needed to allow him the optimal quality of life.
