Larry Ray Crouch

Larry Crouch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 15 to Apr. 16, 2023.
Larry Ray Crouch passed away comfortably at home in Middleton, Idaho, surrounded by his loved ones 14 April, 2023.

Larry was born 6 April 1949, in Grand Prairie, Texas, the second child of Prentice Boss Crouch and Mary Frances Freeman Crouch. He lived a life as strong, bold, and fearless as he. After 40 years working at Vought Aircraft in Grand Prairie, Larry retired and enjoyed years of travel with his wife, Sherry.

From rafting in Colorado, exploring the Rocky Mountains, road tripping to Oklahoma and Louisiana, and adventuring in Ireland, Larry brought his laugh and his fierce spirit around the world. He had the amazing skill for finding "short cuts" that turned out to be not-so-short.

In the summer months, Larry took advantage of the great outdoors of the Gem State. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, raising cattle, and cooking steaks for his friends and family. In the winter months, Larry stayed busy bowling, canning peaches, making plum jelly, working on puzzles, and playing chess with his grandsons. Larry's greatest passion was singing karaoke, which always lifted his soul. His country crooning will be greatly missed at VFW, his favorite karaoke venue in Nampa.

Larry will be remembered as a stable, stubborn, dependable man who was always there when his friends and family needed him. His last words were, "I love you," spoken to his granddaughter, Allee.

Larry is survived by his wife, Sherry Laws Crouch, his brothers Joe (Tina) and Phil (Brenda), his sister Debra (Tony), his daughter Ellen Crouch Bryant, his cherished "son" Nick Bryant, and his step-daughter Lisa Hughes Smartt, his nine grandchildren, Allee Bennett (Dylan Sack), Allen Bennett (Ashley) Kira Bryant, Darien Smartt, Jonathan Smartt (Tiffany), Davis, and Jared Smartt, (Monique), Amethyst, Jasmine and his two great-grandchildren Gabriel and Laine.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

So sorry to hear of Larry's passing. I worked at LTV with Larry and Doug Sweat, back in the 1980's. My thoughts and prayers are with Sherry. Larry was a very unique guy. A master chess player, an outdoorsman, and a hard worker. I'll always have fond memories of working the word jumble puzzle in the morning paper every day with Doug and Larry.
Those were some of the best of times.
Rest in peace my friend.

We were neighbors with Larry and Sherry for seven years in Middleton, Idaho. Wonderful people. Larry was always willing to lend a hand. He was generous with this time, tools and equipment. We worked on many projects together over the years. Larry was kind to my children and alway ready with a funny line to make us laugh. We will miss you Larry. God Bless!

I always remember his smile and seeing him at church. He´d give me a big ol´ hug and tell me how happy he was to see me.

My favorite thing about Uncle Larry was the comic relief. I remember him with that facial expression he wore right before everyone would burst out laughing. I miss Larry and I'm so sorry for the loss. My dad Philip, Aunt Debra, and Uncle Joe lost a really great brother.
However, heaven has gained a real angel so we don't need to forget that. I know Larry is resting in peace and I hope his soul is laughing looking down here at the world he left behind.

Worked with Larry, hunted with Larry. He was a unique and special individual. If you were stuck beside the road and needed help he is definitely the person you want to find & help you.
He will be truly missed.
