Larry Dinwiddie Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 19, 2020.
Larry Lee Dinwiddie was the only child of Ronald and Helen Dinwiddie, born on September 10, 1938 in Xenia, Ohio. Larry left for California after graduating high school in his new white and maroon 1957 Chevrolet convertible and lived in Buena Park with his cousin Vic McCoy. Larry met and married Carole Anderson in 1961 and they went on to have two daughters, Sheralee and Karen. Sheralee was born with special needs and preceded her father in death in 2018. Larry worked at the Times Mirror Press for 20 years as a press printer and then he moved on to earn his real estate license, selling various new homes throughout California for Stanfield Homes. Larry raised his family in Yorba Linda, while spending his time sport fishing in Cabo and golfing, playing in tournaments at many notable golf courses. In 2003 Larry met Donna Carol Patrick (Yes, he had a passion for Carols!) and they moved to Talega in San Clemente, where he continued to enjoy golfing with his "Gallery Buds". Larry and Donna cruised to many European countries, as well as around San Clemente in Larry's black Corvette, both loving their retired life together. Larry and Donna married in 2007 in a beautiful beach ceremony in Maui. Larry's daughter Karen and son-in-law Rob blessed the family with two beautiful grandchildren, Sam and Abby, who are both currently attending colleges out of state. Larry enjoyed being a grandfather and lived near his grandchildren while they were growing up. Larry's love of the great outdoors, beautiful cars and Mexican food were all constants in his life. He enjoyed having a margarita on his patio on the weekends. He and Donna also enjoyed walking their corgi dogs, Corky and Colbie, on the many trails near their home. Larry was diagnosed with dementia in 2016, but he never complained and kept living a full life at Club Gallery in Talega. Larry remained in good health until it was his time to say his final good-byes surrounded by his family and loved ones on Friday, August 14, 2020. Larry will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Larry will always be remembered as "The Tan Man from San Clemente".

Dick and Patti Brotherton

He always had a good sense of humor for us and was very instrumental in making sure Patti served on the Board of the Talega Gallery right after they moved in. That as funny, Larry. Miss you.
