Larry Dale Ekstrom was born on June 13, 1960 to Mary & Laverne Ekstrom in Nevada, MO and passed on October 28, 2019 in Plano, TX. Larry grew up on his grandparents farm. He moved to Texas making memories working on cars with his dad. Pops spent approximately 25 years doing mechanical work at Matt Turner Automotive. Then life took a turn and brought him to Dunlap Swain, a full service fueling station. Larry felt like he was still working in a shop. He touched so many lives and never met a stranger. He would help anyone he could and enjoyed every conversation he had. Larry was a fun-loving guy who enjoyed working with his hands, cars, trucks, singing karaoke at Charlie's, drinking beer, sleeping, his dog - Dakota, and spending time with his kids & grandkids. Larry is survived by his mother; Mary Ellen, children; Dale & Terry Ekstrom, Keith Ekstrom, Justin Ekstrom, Ryan & Noelle Ekstrom, and Colton & Nicole Ekstrom, grandson; Andrew, sisters; Catherine Brown & Lori Ekstrom, and many other family members and friends - all of whom he loved dearly. Larry is preceded by his father, Laverne Ekstrom, and his brother, Dennis Ekstrom. Funeral arrangements for Larry Dale Ekstrom have been faithfully entrusted to Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home - Lavon, which is located at 2343 Lake Rd., at the intersection of Hwy 78 & Hwy 6, Lavon, Texas 75166, and can be reached at (972) 843-4000.
