Larry Randell Hanshew

CERES, Va. — Larry Randell Hanshew, 60, of Ceres, Va., passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2007 at the Princeton Community Hospital.He was born Nov. 01, 1946 in Wythe County, Va., son of the late Olon and Clara Umbarger Hanshew. He was an active member of Bethany UMC, a retired pipe fitter and a member of Local Union No. 669.He was preceded in death by two sisters, Justine King and Gertrude Tate.He is survived by his wife, Donna Griffitts Hanshew of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, Amy Hanshew of Vienna, Va., Becky and Phil Peery of Harrisonburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Ashley Peery, Randall Peery, Derrick Peery; two special friends, Charles Brown, G.H. Peery III. A host of other family and friends also survive.Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethany UMC with the Reverend Will Shelton and the Reverend Jimmy Britton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends at the Bland Funeral Chapel today (Wednesday) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.Although flowers will be appreciated, those who prefer may make memorial donations to the Ceres Fire Department, c/o Larry Tibbs, Ceres, VA 24318 or Bland County Rescue Squad, P.O.
