Larry "LJ" Korfhage, 85, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on July 26, 1940, in Louisville, he remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life.

Larry graduated from Ahrens Trade High School in 1958. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army National Guard and later earned a certificate in Mechanical Technology from the University of Louisville's Technical Institute of the Speed Scientific School. He dedicated 30 years of service to Naval Ordnance before retiring in 1991 at the age of 52. He also earned his Kentucky real estate broker license.

Proud of his heritage, Larry was an active member of the German-American Club and the Gruetli Helvetia Society (Swiss Club) of Louisville, where he enjoyed celebrating cultural traditions and building lasting friendships. Throughout his life, Larry also enjoyed fishing, playing poker, snow skiing, scuba diving, traveling, making homemade wine, playing Texas Hold'em, and creating Rollo-Bingo.

Larry is survived by his wife, Carolyn Korfhage; his children, Lisa (Van) Jarrett and Larry Jay Korfhage; and his grandchildren, Jessica Korfhage, Mitchell Korfhage, Arica Korfhage, Max Korfhage, Aspen Jarrett, and Kaylee Jarrett. He was affectionately known as "PawPaw" to them. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Raylan Tanner Korfhage and Emry Jean Hobbs; his brother Victor (Rosie) Korfhage; and sister-in-law Virginia (Herb) Korfhage.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Korfhage; parents Fredrick and Josephine (Allgeier) Korfhage; siblings Jacqualine (Jerry) Karcher, Fredrick "Buzz" Korfhage, and David (Pat) Korfhage; and great-grandson Colson Ray Korfhage.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 4, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the German-American Club Gesangverein, 1840 Lincoln Ave Louisville, KY 40213.

Larry will be remembered for his telling of "Old Indian Tricks", Multi-million dollar ideas, singing and playing his guitar, and the energy he brought to every gathering. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
