Ohatchee - Funeral service for William Larry McCombs, 64, of Ohatchee, will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, at Bethel United Methodist Church on Peeks Hill Road in Ohatchee with the Rev. Glenn Horn, the Rev. Skip Snelling and Wayne Dunaway officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Old Ohatchee Cemetery. Mr. McCombs passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012, at his home.
Larry is survived by his wife, Marion Dover McCombs; son, Dax (Amberly) McCombs; daughters, Melonie (Andrew) Vaughn, and Kristi (Derek) Harris; grandchildren, Evie, Coleman, Emma, Cam and Jack McCombs, Shelby, James, and Brody Harris; Jaden, Jace, Jance, and Jolie Vaughn; sisters, Charlotte (Wayne) Parris, Judy McCombs, and Rhetta McCombs; brother, Carlton (Donna) McCombs; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Dover; uncle, Russell (Mildred) Johnson; special cousins, Mike (Pat) Killian, Johnny (Helen) Cruise and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. McCombs is preceded in death by parents, Rev. A.D. and Lillian McCombs; and brother, Rodney McCombs.
Pallbearers will be Shane Parris, Brian Clements, Chad Clements, Ricky Carroll, Warren Nunnelly, Bill Fulton, Dewayne Dover, Keith Mitchell, Mark Mitchell, Clint Dover, Matthew Dover and Ben Anderson.
Mr. McCombs was a lifetime resident of Ohatchee and a graduate of Ohatchee High School class of 1965. He also attended Jacksonville State University. Larry loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a great love for his church, music, cars, and working on motors. He also loved his home and the interest of nature. One of his favorite things to do (that he did well) was singing and playing his guitar in glory to God. Whether he was working his role as a husband, dad, or papa he would do it with all of his heart. May we all remember, that a man is only truly dead when he has been forgotten.
