Larry Strassner Obituary

TURBOTVILLE - Larry O. Strassner Sr., 65, of Warrior Run Blvd., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at his home following an illness of the past two and a-half years.
He was born Sept. 21, 1944, in Kelly Crossroads, Union County, a son of the late Freeman O. and Anna S. (Kratzer) Strassner. He married the former Linda L. Pfleegor on April 12, 1964 and they have celebrated 45 years of marriage.
A 1962 graduate of Warrior Run High School, he enlisted in the Marines in June of 1962 and served in the Vietnam War.
He was a welder and pipe-fitter for 39 years with the Plumbers and Pipe-fitters, formerly Local 810, now Local 520. Earlier in life he had worked at Milton Steel and Litton Industries.
Larry was a member of White Deer Valley Baptist Church, Allenwood, and had been a Little League coach in Hughesville while residing there in the mid 1970's.
In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Lonny O. Strassner, of Loyalsock, and Jeffrey S. and Mary Strassner, of Montoursville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Angela K. and Brian Kustanbauter, of Muncy, Lisa L. and Justin Hutchcraft, of Atlanta, Ga., and Ashley K. Strassner, at home; one grandson whom he was raising, Jason Strassner, at home; seven grandchildren, Sierra, Sabrina, Amanda, Jacob, Megan, Michael, and Joshua; three brothers and sisters-in-law, F. Dale and Verna Strassner, of Hughesville, Terry L. and Susan Strassner, of Turbotville and Randy E. and Christine Strassner, of Raymond, N.H.; two sisters and brother-in-law, Charlotte A. and Richard Huff, of Watsontown and Florence L. Strassner, of Dewart; and one sister-in-law, Doris Strassner, of Panama City, Fla.
He was preceded in death by one son, Larry O. Strassner, Jr. in 2006; one brother, Barry Strassner in 2001, and one sister, Bonnie Strassner in 1957.
Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Ricky Phillips, Chaplain with Evangelical Hospice, officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
Flowers will be accepted by the family, but they suggest that you might offer assistance to a friend, or do a kind deed to help someone else in memory of Larry.

Linda and family,

I am so sorry to hear of Larry's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know your feeling lost right now, but it will get better with time. Always remember the fun that Larry brought to your life and the good times had by all because of him.
