Larry Bruce Twitchell died on October 25, 2024, as a result of failed respiratory and vascular systems. He was 85.

He was born in Berlin, NH, on May 4, 1939, the second son of Sherman A. Twitchell and Natalie Margaret McRae. Siblings include Beverly June Caloggero of Wake Forest, NC, step-sister Clara Mae Godfrey (Wayne) of Woodruff, SC, and step-brother Norman E. Braden of Saucier, MS. He was predeceased by his brother, Archie James Twitchell of Bardstown, KY, step-mother Gabrielle Twitchell, and father Sherman A. Twitchell.

Larry started his career after graduating from Keene State College, where he was a student leader (class president as well as student council president.) It was there he met Jane Barnard, his future wife as well as life long love and best friend for over 60 years. Living in Charlestown, NH, he started teaching social studies and English at Vilas High School in Alstead, NH. To his last day, he was in touch with some of those students. They were as important to him as he was to them. When Vilas merged with other high schools, Larry was chosen as the director of guidance at Fall Mountain Regional High School. He then studied and earned his Masters' degree at the University of Wyoming, and returned to Fall Mountain as head of The Guidance department. Very shortly after, he was offered a position at the then new NH Vocational Technical College in Berlin, NH. He moved with his young family and remained there for over 20 years, having served initially as a recruiter and counselor, Dean of Students, then President of the college for 10 years. His work life was always marked with dedication to his students, the college and its mission. After 20+ years there, he moved to the southern part of the state where he worked in financial planning and services; living in Candia NH with his wife and partner of over 60 years. They took many long cross country trips during their early years together and when retired, enjoyed time in the winters in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Survivors include his wife and best friend, Jane Barnard Twitchell, sons, Timothy (Claudia), Matthew (partner Alison Buchholz ), earlier Daughters-In-Law, Lisa Padfield Twitchell and Mari Edwards Twitchell: Granddaughters Alexandra, Olivia, Emily and Ava Twitchell, and bonus grandson Grant Wenhart, as well as many nieces and nephews. Any services will be private.
