MARTHA MURPHY Obituary
SUMMERFIELD — Mrs. Martha McBride Murphy, 88, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013, at Jacob's Creek Nursing and Rehab Center..
The funeral service for Mrs. Murphy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, at Forbis & Dick Brooke Chapel with Rev. Jerry Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Flat Rock United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday May 29, 2013, from 1 to 2 p.m.
Born in Stokes County, Mrs. Murphy was born on February 15, 1925, the daughter of the late William and Liza Bullins McBride. She was a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her sons Roy Lee Murphy and his wife Diane of Greensboro, William Ray Murphy and his wife Martha of Summerfield, brother William J. McBride and sister Laura McBride both of Madison, four grandchildren, Billy Murphy, Susan Layell, Patricia Murphy Graves, Lori Lindsey, five great grandchildren, Sidney Layell, Harley Murphy, Dillon Preteska, Kimberlee Lindsey and Damien Graves.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William John Murphy, daughter Linda Tilley, brother Johnny McBride, sisters Alice Gunter and Nanny Stephens.
