Joseph Mathew "Bud" Wenzel

Joseph Mathew "Bud" Wenzel (September 1936 - April 2021), 84, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2021 in the loving embrace of God.

Bud was born in the fall of September 1936 in New York City. He was an enthusiastic student athlete, attending Lehigh University on a basketball scholarship and graduating in 1959 with a degree in Economics. Bud also played football for The Lehigh Engineers, where he set numerous receiving records and was ultimately drafted by The Cleveland Browns. While at Lehigh, he met and fell in love with Carol Nappi, who became his wife of 62 years.

Bud and Carol raised their family in Armonk, NY and were parishioners of St. Patrick's Church. Bud served his parish as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, CCD Teacher and member of the guitar group. He was eager to share his love of sports with the children of Armonk and was generous with his time and resources. Bud was one of the founding fathers of The St. Patrick's Youth Football program and served as a local Little League Baseball director and coach for many years.

Together, Bud and Carol Co-Founded LADY BUDD, a women's retail operation based out of New York City, with locations in Scarsdale, Rye, New Rochelle & Mamaroneck.

Bud is survived by his beloved wife Carol; his daughter Meg O'Callaghan (Kevin); son Greg Wenzel (Kate); grandchildren Kelly O'Callaghan LeGaye (AJ), Patrick O'Callaghan, Jack O'Callaghan (Vanessa), Zach Wenzel, Sean Wenzel, and Ryan Wenzel; and his great-grandchildren Tessa and Ava LeGaye.

A private funeral is planned.
