Laura Bor

1921-2016 AMHERST, Mass. - Laura Bor, 95, died peacefully on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Center for Extended Care in Amherst. Born June 22, 1921, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ruth (Skydell) Cantor. She attended New Utrecht High School and New York City Community College. She had worked as a private secretary for an import/export business and then worked for many years as a school secretary at PS 287 in Brooklyn, NY. She married the love of her life George Bor in 1969 and they resided in Augusta, Georgia. Laura was a warm and loving person with a unique sense of humor who enjoyed playing Scrabble, reading, and caring for the people she loved. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Madlynn Haber of Florence, and Susan Goldstein of Waterford, CT; grandchildren, David Goldstein and his wife Darlene, Paul Goldstein, and his wife Monica, all of Waterford, CT, and Naomi Haber of Florence; great-granddaughters, Lauren, Ashley and Madison Goldstein; sisters, Bernice Caplan of Silver Spring, MD; and also many loving nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Laura was pre-deceased by her loving husband George Bor. We would like to thank the nurses and staff at Center for Extended Care at Amherst for their dedicated and genuine care for our mother. There will be a service on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 11:30AM at the Drozdal Funeral Home of Northampton. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
