Laura Mae Chadwell, 46, of Peru, died at 3:20 PM Saturday, April 25, 2009 in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. Born August 28, 1962 in Kokomo, IN, she was the daughter of the late Lester C. Vandergriff and Bessie A. Lewelling. On October 14, 1979 in Kokomo she married James Brian Chadwell, and he survives. She was a homemaker who loved flowers, reading, e-mailing and writing letters and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, James Brian Chadwell of Peru; three sons, James Brian Chadwell II of Sioux Falls, SD, Christopher Lee and wife Jessica Chadwell of Walton, IN, and Ashley Laban Chadwell of Peru; one daughter, Laura Elizabeth and husband Jeremy Ream of Peru; two brothers, Sam Cox and Eddie Ray Vandergriff, both of Kokomo; four sisters, Alice and husband Bob Welcher of Peru, Aileen and husband Mike Huffman of Marion, Peggy and husband Gary Gist of Kokomo, Shirley and husband Billy Hague of Noblesville; eight grandchildren, Austin and Aaron Chadwell, Shade, Jade, and Mercedes Chadwell, Brody, Emily, and Bode Ream. Also surviving is her mother in law, Dorcas Hayes and husband Charles, Kokomo, sister in law, Peggy Cobb, Kokomo, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, also one brother, Edward Carnell and father in law, James J. Chadwell. Services will be 12:00 Noon Thursday, April 30, 2009 in Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo. Reverend Lew McKinney will officiate. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Thursday at the mortuary.
