Laura Jones Obituary
Laura J. Jones, age 68, of Genoa, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 14, 2024. Born in 1956, Laura lived a life full of faith, love, creativity, and kindness. Her faith meant so much to her, and she was an active member of Riverside Community Church in St. Charles, Illinois.
Laura is survived by her devoted siblings, Linda Kalinowski (her late husband, Gary Kalinowski), Joseph La Greco (Gabe Sanchez), Kevin La Greco (Karen La Greco), and Mary Radtke (Marc Radtke), and her beloved son, Phillip Dorsett. She was a cherished Aunt and Great Aunt. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Arline La Greco, her brother, Mark La Greco, and her husband, Robert Jones. Laura adored the extended family she married into and cherished the bonds she formed with them. She loved her family wholeheartedly, and her devotion was evident in all her relationships.
A proud alum of Thornridge High School, Laura pursued her passion for the arts throughout her life. She was an avid artist, spending countless hours drawing, painting, and engaging in various arts and crafts. Her tender, loving, and kind-spirited nature touched all who knew her, including many dear friends and confidants she made at Riverside Community Church and South Elgin Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, where the staff adored her.
A Mass to honor Laura's life will be held on September 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Heights Parish Kieran Site, 724 195th St, Chicago Heights, IL 60411, followed by her interment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, 19500 S Cottage Grove Ave, Glenwood, IL 60411.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to help cover expenses.

Laura, was a very special person to me! I lived across the street from her! I gave her rides to the restaurant and to the store! She always wanted to pay me for bringing her places, but I would not accept! Her company was my payment. Than she moved to Elgin Rehab & I didn´t get to see her very often, but she will always be missed by me! Love you Laura I hope you´re doing well in heaven! I´m sure glad you got to meet your son, I sure was behind you to find your son! Good bless you & your family!

I never really knew Laura - we were very close friends of Linda & Gary during high school years and forward. I do know Laura came from a very beautiful and loving family that loved her dearly. Laura and I would go out to lunch and then do some errands she needed to get done. I always looked forward to our "get togethers". She loved the Lord, would always be asking for prayers for people she encountered. She will be missed.

I first met Laura several years ago at the annual Riverside Community Church picnic. We sat together, enjoying good food and even better fellowship. She was such a sweet lady, and Riverside was blessed to have her.
She will be missed, but I know that she loved Jesus as her Savior and is at home with Him.

Laura was a dear Sister in Christ and friend of mine. She Dearly loved her Christian Faith and was a active member of Riverside Community Church. Her relationship with her Lord and Savior was very important to her. She attended 3 Bible studies a week at the South Elgin Rehab Center and was at Sunday Worship Service almost every week. I gave her a ride home after church each Sunday and she always asked me " What can I pray for you this week?" She was a very kind ,caring , and loving person. She Always put other peoples needs before her own. I will miss her hugs. She will be missed at RCC, but we know she is in Heaven right now singing and worshipping her Savior, with a brand new body and No More Oxygen Tanks!! Praise the Lord!! I will see you again Sweet Sister! I know she has already made many new friends in Heaven and is busy helping out wherever she can. Love and miss your Laura!!!
