Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 23, 2007.
In Loving Memory of Laura Davidson Logie (Yin) Laura Logie, daughter of a Scottish mother and a Burmese father, was born December 16, 1915 in Edinburgh, Scotland. She passed away February 18, 2007 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan after a life of curiosity, adventure and love. Laura was a champion of the arts in her community, a health educator, a music composer, a choir and theatre director (The Mikado, The Admirable Crichton). In the 1950's she founded the Battlefords Community Players and was named Citizen of the Year in North Battleford in 1982. She was passionate about the environment and about grammar. She covered both in her newspaper columns (Speaking of Health; Prompt Corner; Talking BAAC). She was famous for her keen wit and had a love for sunsets , daisies and dragonflies. Laura will be dearly missed by her family, whom she inspired with her wisdom and humor. She was predeceased in 1960 by her husband, Rev. Allan M. Logie of Third Avenue United Church. She is survived by her three children: Anne Bayin of Toronto; Ian Logie(Joanne) of Delta, BC; Aileen Tiffin(Rick) of Prince Albert; and her grandchildren: Bree Tiffin ( Sunny); Shawn Tiffin (Della); Meghan Logie and Scott Logie (Joy). A service of music and Celebration will take place Monday, February 26, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Third Avenue United Church, North Battleford, Sask. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be directed to Doctors without Borders, the Canadian Red Cross or Global Neighbors Canada Inc. Rev. Jack Carr will officiate; music and choral conductor will be Laura's dear friend and collaborator, Sheila Osborn. Condolences may emailed to [email protected] Arrangements are entrusted to Battlefords Funeral Service, 446-4200

Please accept my deepest and sincere sympathy. Your dear mother and grandmother was one of the dearest women one would ever hope to meet. Her involvement in my church, Third Avenue United, her music which I was fortunate to be able to sing many times including when it was learned and presented during that memorable Reunion Choir weekend. One of the most memorable of weekends. I have so many wonderful memories of Rev. Logie, Mrs. Logie (I never called her Laura and I won't start now) and her family. She was such a wonderful role model, a wonderful friend who contributed so much to the lives of so many. She will be missed by all who knew her but certainly never forgotten for the legacy of music she leaves behind for all to enjoy.

Upon the recent passing of Mrs.Laura Logie, please accept my deepest sympathy. Her love and passion for her family, life, faith and the arts and music will surely live on through many who have had the pleasure of meeting her. While acting as assistant organist (Third Avenue United Church-NB'ford, SK - 1991-1996), it was there that her presence became a guiding light to me upon my continued path in music ministry. Being able to catch a glimpse of her from the organ console mirror, or looking forward to her coming to "commend" me upon my musical stylings, after a given Worship service, performing her music, or just to visit with chat and a hug, she was truly remarkable. I recall one visit to her during an Easter Sunday when she spent a duration in the hospital. The worship service was just not the same when not seeing Laura from the mirror. As I had presented the congregation with an Easter floral arrangement, I made certain to bring it to her after Worship. I still recall that hospital visit and the way that her face lit up once she was able to see who was hiding behind flowers!
All things musical,I can think of some anthems bringing much warmth to my heart with cherished thoughts and memories of Laura. One being a Logie/Osborn arrangement of "We're Marching Onto The Future", "When We Worship God Through Music" as well as "Well Done, Good And Faithful Servant" also come to mind. She is now "Bethlehem Bound" and at Home, as her life journey is complete. May she rest in peace with all the souls of the faithful. Shalom.

Dear Logie Family
My sincere sympathies to all of you.
My memories of your mother start with Junior choir at 3rd Ave.United Church. What a wonderful musical beginning for me. I still remember many musical lessons taught to me by her and continued with Sheila Osborn. My fondest memory though would have to be the celebration of music a few years ago at the choir reunion. What a wonderful legacy your mother left to all and what a priviledge to be able to participate in that tribute. She will be fondly and lovingly remembered by the entire Hokanson family
Sincerely
Pat Harper

Laura was such a gracious and welcoming soul. When I moved to North Battleford to join in the Ministry team at Third Avenue United Church she would often offer me tea and moments of peacefulness in her home. I remember being sent home one day with a big bunch of peonies from her garden. To this day I remember her everytime I see peonies. May God grant us all a bit of Laura in our lives - wit, warmth, creativity, beauty and passion. She will be lovingly missed, but never forgotten.
