Laura Skapin Obituary
She was born on April 30, 1955 in Calgary to Frank and Myrtle Gemmill. A proud mom and nana, Laura treasured her family. She met her husband Ed Skapin in 1977 and married him in 1979. Together, they raised two children, Joshua and Jennifer. Laura cherished her grandchildren; Joshua and his wife Quena's daughter Annika, and Jennifer and her husband Todd Hermann's son Weston and daughter Lynnae.
Laura, who was known for her kind and gentle spirit, was an avid animal lover. One of her favourite things was taking her beloved dogs out for walks, and meeting new friends in the neighbourhood along the way.
She was a well-regarded legal assistant for many prominent Calgary lawyers for nearly 40 years.
Laura is survived by her husband Ed Skapin; children: Joshua (Quena) Skapin and Jennifer (Todd) Hermann; and grandchildren Weston, Lynnae and Annika; as well as her brothers William and John Gemmill. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Myrtle Gemmill.
The family would like to acknowledge the kindness and support that the ALS Society of Alberta provided our family over the last 2 years.
