Laureen Gibson
ASHLAND – Laureen R. Gibson, 59, of Ashland, died Nov. 29, 2008 at her home near Ashland.
She was born in Omaha on Aug. 10, 1949 to Theodore and Laura (Cain) Pelzer.
She attended a country grade school near Springfield and elementary school in Millard. She graduated from Springfield-Platteview High School in 1967. She graduated from Anthony's School of Cosmetology in Omaha.
On Aug. 10, 1968, she was united in marriage to Louis Gibson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Papillion.
She worked as a hairdresser in Omaha and later in Ashland. She and Louis lived on a farm near Springfield after they were married and moved to their farm northwest of Ashland in 1971. She continued to do hair and cleaned chickens for dozens of people. She later worked for Burkley Envelope Company in Wahoo and drove the bus for the Memphis school. She began to work at the Wahoo Vision Center in the early 1990's and continued until her health began to fail.
She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Ashland and the Country Junction Extension Club since its inception. She also taught Sunday school.
Survivors include her husband, Louis; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Tammy of Ashland; daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Darrell Eloge of Lincoln and Lisa and Tony Matthes of Genoa; grandchildren, Tyler Gibson, Nicole and Trevor Fossler of Ashland; sister, JoAnne Latham of Springfield and parents-in-law, Kenny and Evelyn Martin of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, John Latham.
Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 1, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church, Ashland.
Funeral service Tuesday, Dec. 2, 10:30 a.m., at the American Lutheran Church in Ashland with the Rev. Lori Morton officiating.
Pallbearers are Jesse Latham, Ryan Ehlers, Jed Drelicharz, Jeff Heisner, Brian Heisner and Mark Simmons.
Inurnment will be at a later date at Springfield Cemetery in Springfield.
Memorials have been established to a cancer research institute of the donor's choice.
Arrangements by Marcy Mortuary, Ashland.

Gibsons,
Please know that she is resting in God's arms, no longer in pain, and no longer suffering. I cannot begin to express my sorrow for you, but to tell you that she received her ultimate healing. Gwen knew Laureen quite well, and I am sure that she was there waiting for her. Please accept our heartfelt condolences.
