Laurel Anthony Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 9, 2025.

In Loving Memory of Laurel Jane Anthony, 1953 - 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend, Laurel Jane Anthony, a vibrant, funny, and deeply cherished soul who brought light and laughter to everyone who knew her. Laurel passed away peacefully surrounded by her very dear friends David Kirkland and Marilou Pederson, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and unforgettable memories.

She is survived by her sister and brother in law Melissa and Patrick Rusk, nephews, Michael and John Rusk; her cherished fur babies Tomba and Spritey; the loving memories of her cherished yellow lab, Glacier Bear; Gamma Phi Beta Sisters, Bridge, Gardening, Neighborhood, Book Club, Sewing Group friends, and countless other dear friends who loved her as family.

Laurel was raised in Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism.

Upon graduation from college , Laurel started her career at the Star and Tribune newspaper in the advertising department where her outgoing personality, humor and charm served her well. She quickly mastered the job requirements, and was very successful over the years in sustaining the advertising revenues for the Star and Tribune. Upon leaving the Star and Tribune, Laurel continued her education in Horticulture and Design in the 1990's which served her well as she started her very successful "Gardens to Go" landscaping business that sustained her through retirement.

Laurel's warmth and wit made every room brighter. She had an extraordinary gift for making people feel seen, heard, and loved - often punctuated with her signature laughter that could lift anyone's spirits. Whether sharing stories over coffee, lending a helping hand, or simply offering her friendship without condition, Laurel's presence enriched countless lives.

Laurel's passions included the black diamond slopes of Vail, Europe, and other advanced ski areas; and sewing, gardening, running marathons and decorating her home.

She will be deeply missed by her many friends and all who were fortunate enough to call her family in spirit. Laurel's love for life, her unshakable optimism, and her generous heart will continue to inspire us every day.

A celebration of Laurel's life will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm in the Wayzata Room of the Hotel Landing located at 925 Lake Street East, Wayzata, Minnesota. Reflections and memories will begin at 3:00pm. Please join us in honoring Laurels remarkable life - where friends and loved ones can gather to share stories, laughter, and remembrances of the beautiful soul we have lost.

If you wish to make a donation in Laurel's honor, we kindly request that they be made to the The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society or to an animal rescue organization of your choice.

Her light may have dimmed from this world, but the joy she gave will forever glow in our hearts.

Laurie, you were my first best friend I ever had, which i will carry in my heart forever. Even when we didn´t speak for years-because of distance and different paths our lives took-when we did connect, it was like we had just seen each other the day before.
You fought such a hard fight; now I picture you skiing the clouds w/Cynthia and Chilli, laughing all the way. Luv u, Grizzy

It was always a warm vibe to be in Laurel's presence. So fortunate to have known her. And, her fellow Labradors! Many great memories of sorority house days just lounging around with her.

Laurie was my cousin, sure looked up to her, older, cool city girl and we were the "country cousins "in Northfield. Our families loved Thanksgiving and have many inside jokes, Emily Thurston
