Dear Gail and Ron,
I cannot imagine the deep pain and agony that you have been through with Laurel's cancer fight and death. May God's peace be with you on the dark nights as you grieve the loss of your beautiful daughter. I have so many wonderful memories of Laurel and you, both together and separately. One is the delight she had from the sweat pants that we made her to fit her beautiful long legs. She was so very grateful. Meadow Lake camping was another great time - watching all the kids play kick the can, bonding together, laughing, running... loving life. My prayers are with you both as you travel down this painful, love-filled path.

I am an educator and school administrator who had the good fortune to know Glen and his children, Tyler and Laurel. I would describe Glen as a good guy, with great kids! At every level of her schooling, Laurel was dedicated, fun loving, polite, gregarious and sweet. I can see her now in the center of a group of friends, standing many inches taller than the others, laughing and sharing stories. My condolences to her family and friends. Tyler, you eulogized your sister perfectly.

Gail you are without a doubt one of the best Mom's I have ever known. Your ritual of spending 15 minutes a day before bed with each of your children is now something I try and do each night with my kids. I remember thinking so many times how lucky your kids where to have such a fantastic Parent. Laurel was blessed to have you as her mom and you made her the great person she became. My heart breaks at your profound loss.

To Laurel's Family,
We met Laurel when we were her photographers at her wedding. She really made an impact on us, and over the years we have thought of her often. We were very impressed with her serene nature, her drive, her kindness, and her hard working attitude. She was so beautiful in every way.
We were sad to read of her passing, and we are so sorry that you have to face this awful time, this terrible loss. Our hearts are with you.

To Laurel's family & friends, although we have never met, I met Laurel some years back in NZ. We kept in touch as much as we could & she spoke about you often, be at peace that you raised, grew and lived with a woman who touched so many people around the world.
Although she was taken too soon, never forget that she will always be with us.
I wish I could be there to say goodbye properly but will do it from the UK.
Thinking of you.
All my best.

I have the most amazing memories of Laurel, she was my very first friend in Fort Saskatchewan when I moved here in grade 7. She was caring, funny and a very loyal friend. I recall the first day I met Laurel Buchan in Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre. I remember thinking that this lovely lady before me was quite striking, not necessarily because of personal appearance or because of her stature, but because she was very kind, personable and approachable. These were not qualities I expected to find in a place such as the Fort, but Laurel indeed had all of these great personal attributes and more.
The challenges that follow after being diagnosed with cancer are more than most can deal with, whether you had your whole life to live or whether life is just beginning. Laurel persevered with her life, despite all the difficulties, which not many of us can do. I recall seeing Laurel in Safeway shortly after her diagnosis and admired her ability to hold her head high and smile. While I did not know Laurel well, she is someone who will be dearly missed, not only because of who she was, but how she carried on with her life so beautifully and so courageously until the very end. God Bless you Laurel and may He bring peace, comfort, and your strength to your family and friends.

I send my heartfelt thoughts to Laurel's family. She was in my moms support group for cancer. And I was rooting for her that she would beat the nasty disease. I have so many memories of Laurel growing up from walking to school, or taking in the Edmonton Journal run, the few shopping trips we took or just having her in some of my classes. As we grew up we did lose touch some, but I have ALWAYS had her in my thoughts and wondered how she was. My thoughts go out to the family. And keep her memory close in the difficult times. She was a brave strong amazing person. And I was truly honored to have her as a friend. Will miss you Laurel.
