Laurette Babb Obituary
Laurette was born in Berwick, Maine, on February 24, 1924, to parents George and Blanche Dumont. Laurette graduated from Wilfred Academy of Boston in 1944. She worked at Filene's in Boston for eight years, before opening her own business, out of her home on West High Street in Somersworth which she ran for 35-plus years. Laurette enjoyed sewing, knitting, and her family which was the most important thing in her life.
Laurette is predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years Hayden Babb. She is also predeceased by six brothers, Lucien Dumont, Roland Dumont, Gene Dumont, Roger Dumont, Victor Dumont and Leonard Dumont. She is also predeceased by her son in-law David Hagar.
Laurette leaves behind a legacy of love to her precious children, son, Lenny Babb and wife Karen of Somersworth, N.H.; daughter, Diane Hagar of Farmington, N.H.; five grandchildren, Aaron Hagar and wife Nicole of Wolfeborough, N.H., Amy Vachon and husband Greg of Alton, N.H., Alexis Phillips and husband of Cameron of Lexington, N.C., Tara Spencer and husband Mike of Rochester, N.H., and Tim Babb and Jackie Perfetti of Alplaus, N.Y. She is also survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Laurette's family extends a special thanks to all the staff at the Riverside Rest Home for all the loving care during her ten month stay there.
SERVICES: A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Bernier Funeral Home, 49 South St., Somersworth, N.H.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Laurette Babb's name to the Riverside Rest Home, 275 County Farm Rd., Dover, N.H., or the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202. To leave online condolences please visit www.bernierfuneralhome.net. Care for the Babb family has been entrusted to the Bernier Funeral Home.
