In Loving Memory of Laurie (Miskanis) Cisewski

September 10, 1962 – July 8, 2025

With profound sadness and deep love, we celebrate the life of Laurie Cisewski, who passed away on July 8, 2025. Laurie was a vibrant, compassionate, and adventurous soul who brought light and laughter to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Born on September 10, 1962, in Roselle, Illinois, Laurie was the beloved daughter of the late Fred Miskanis and of Gennie (Czaja) Pedersen. A proud graduate of Lake Park High School, Class of 1980, Laurie carried her natural warmth and gift for connection with her throughout her life.

Laurie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Daniel Cisewski, and her father, Fred Miskanis. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Samantha (Chandler) Helms, her mother Gennie Pedersen, her brother Fred (Mary) Miskanis, and her sister Linda. She also leaves behind her cherished nieces-Chrystal, Rachel, Angeline (George), Cassidy, and Ruby-who will always remember her as a fun, loving, and endlessly supportive aunt.

Laurie lived a life centered around love, community, and adventure. She had a deep appreciation for the little joys-long walks on the beach with her beloved dog Finley, volunteering her time and heart at the Mississippi Aquarium, and laughing with friends over meals at beachfront restaurants. Her adventurous spirit took her on travels near and far, including a solo tour through the New England states, many trips to Washington State, and frequent trips to visit her daughter, wherever life took her.

Professionally, Laurie dedicated herself to helping others as a claims adjuster, working with numerous counties across Wisconsin. She deeply valued her collaborations with police officers, snow plow teams, and municipal workers and was respected for her fairness, her work ethic, and the friendships she built along the way.

Laurie had a rare and beautiful gift: she could talk to anyone. No matter where she went, she made people feel welcomed, heard, and valued. Her conversations turned into friendships, and her friendships into lifelong bonds. She had a laugh that warmed the heart and a presence that lit up the room.

Laurie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her spirit will live on in the waves she walked beside, the causes she cared for, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness.

A celebration of Laurie's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Mississippi Aquarium.

To honor Laurie, take a walk by the water, share a kind word with someone new, or call a loved one just to say hello. That's how she lived-and how she would want to be remembered.
