Wanoka Sword Obituary

SALTVILLE, Va. – Mrs. Wanoka L. "Oakie" Sword, age 75, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, in the Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol Tennessee.
Mrs. Sword was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Sword; parents, Allie G. Lamie and Mary Etta Branson Lamie; brothers, Allie G. Lamie Jr., James A. "Dopey" Lamie and John L. Lamie; sisters, Catherine Gates, Christine Fabinski and May Lewis Lamie; and grandson, Joshua Matthew Sword.
Mrs. Sword loved to crochet and quilt. Her joy in life was her grandchildren and giving her crafts to all her friends.
Survivors include her two sons, Kyle Sword and wife Lesa and Richard Sword and wife Stacy; three daughters, Carol Nutter and husband Rusty, Kay Frye and husband Jody and Cindy Sword, all of Saltville; four sisters, Bonnie Harris, Bristol Tennessee, Eula Rhea, Mansfield, Ohio, Trula Price, Saltville, and Ruby Bailey, Gloucester, Va.; one brother, Tommie Lamie, Sunrise, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Katherine Lamie and Peggy Lamie, both of Chilhowie; grandchildren, Tim Nutter, Ryan Nutter, Jordan Sword, Kylie Sword, Kelli Frye, Lauren Sword and Lindsey Sword, all of Saltville; great-grandchild, Joshua Nutter; several nieces and nephews; best friend since childhood, Florence Everhart; and special friends, Angela Robbins, Frank and Joy Rude, Pete and Debbie Sword and Eddie Sword.
Special thanks to Dr. John Greene.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sword will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, in the Henderson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Kenny Howard and the Rev. David Mumpower officiating. Burial will follow in the Elizabeth Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville is serving the Sword family.
